Award season 2023: Worst and Best - The Razzies and The Oscars
Yes, I *know* it's hideously early, and the MODS are going to be wringing their hands in anger, but... 'TERRIFIER 2' HAS BEEN SUBMITTED BY BLOODY DISGUSTING FOR OSCAR CONSIDERATION! We Have Officially Submitted ‘Terrifier 2’ for Oscar Consideration Because It’s Too Funny Not To / Bloody Disgusting "The most vomit-inducing movie since The Exorcist with the most shocking effects sequence since An American Werewolf in London is coming for the Academy Awards! In all seriousness, it’s absolutely insane that this ultra-slasher is actually playing in theaters across the country. The film managed to escape into mainstream theaters completely uncut and gory as can be. We broke all the rules and fans rewarded us with tremendous support that shook the system to its core. And we’ve got the vomit stories to prove it. Meant to play in only a handful of theaters over the course of a single weekend, Terrifier 2 just expanded to 1,500 theaters for Halloween weekend – the widest release for unrated horror… ever?!

The nominations for the 2023 Razzies have been announced: "Leading the pack of cinematic mongrels with 8 nominations is Blonde, which movie-goers liked even less than critics did. Called a 'biopic that’s not a biopic,' by its makers, it 'explores' the exploitation of Marilyn Monroe… by continuing to exploit her posthumously. Worst Picture Blonde (Netflix) – Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and Brad Pitt Good Mourning (Open Road Films) – Chris Long, Machine Gun Kelly, Jib Polhemus, and Mod Sun The King's Daughter (Gravitas Ventures) – David Brookwell, Paul Currie, Wei Han, James Pang Hong, and Sean McNamara Morbius (Columbia) – Avi Arad, Lucas Foster, and Matt Tolmach Pinocchio (Disney+) – Derek Hogue, Andrew Milano, Chris Weitz, and Robert Zemeckis Worst Director Judd Apatow – The Bubble Andrew Dominik – Blonde Daniel Espinosa – Morbius Machine Gun Kelly and Mod Sun – Good Mourning Robert Zemeckis – Pinocchio Worst Actor Pete Davidson (voice) – Marmaduke as Marmaduke Tom Hanks – Pinocchio as Geppetto Machine Gun Kelly – Good Mourning as London Clash Jared Leto – Morbius as Michael Morbius Sylvester Stallone – Samaritan as Joe Smith / Samaritan / Nemesis Worst Actress Ryan Kiera Armstrong – Firestarter as Charlene "Charlie" McGee Bryce Dallas Howard – Jurassic World Dominion as Claire Dearing Diane Keaton – Mack & Rita as Mackenzie "Mack" Martin / Rita Kaya Scodelario – The King's Daughter as Marie-Josèphe Alicia Silverstone – The Requin as Jaelyn Worst Supporting Actor Pete Davidson – Good Mourning as Berry Tom Hanks – Elvis as Colonel Tom Parker Xavier Samuel – Blonde as Charles 'Cass' Chaplin Jr. Mod Sun – Good Mourning as Dylan Evan Williams – Blonde as Edward G. ...And the 2023 Razzie goes to... Worst Picture Blonde (Netflix) – Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and Brad Pitt Worst Director Machine Gun Kelly and Mod Sun – Good Mourning Worst Actor Jared Leto – Morbius as Michael Morbius Worst Actress In a surprise move, the Razzies awarded themselves an award. After a (righteous) backlash following the nomination of 12 year old Ryan Kiera Armstrong for her part in the 'Firestarter' remake, the Awards committee gave her a publicly apology and awared the statuette to themselves (for 'Their Worst Actress Nominations Blunder'). In addition to that, they also changed the rules for future ballots to ensure that no-one under the age of 18 will be eligible for nomination Worst Supporting Actor Tom Hanks – Elvis as Colonel Tom Parker Worst Supporting Actress Adria Arjona – Morbius as Martine Bancroft Worst Screen Combo Tom Hanks and his latex-laden face (and ludicrous accent) – Elvis Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-off or Sequel Pinocchio (Disney+) [not to be confused with the Guillermo del Toro version of the film] Worst Screenplay Blonde – Screenplay by Andrew Dominik; Based on the novel by Joyce Carol Oates The special Razzie Redeemer Award was awarded to Colin Farrell who has gone from being a 2004 Worst Actor nominee [as Alexander in 'Alexander the Great'] to a 2022 Best Actor Oscar Front-Runner [as Padraic Suilleabhain in 'The Banshees of Inisherin']
