What's predictable and boring is Warner's don't give a toss attitude to classic releases on a new format.....

I love the classic image from the poster, VHS, Betamax, LaserDisc, DVD, and Blu-ray.

That said, when you have as many copies of The Exorcist as me, some variety in the artwork is welcomed

Many! I have it on just about every format available and will buy the 4K Ultra HD as soon as it's released.

Demdike@Cult Labs 18th July 2022 12:04 PM

Quite the collection there, Nos.

I'll have to think about selling you my original re-release UK quad poster.

Justin101 18th July 2022 12:16 PM

I've only got 1, it's that Warners box set in the flimsy packaging that has all of the sequels and prequels on it.

I might the only one, but I think I prefer Exorcist 3 anyway :)

I have a three film UK dvd set in a nice gold embossed hard box and the UK Blu-ray of the first film original and directors cuts which remains unwatched. I did intend to watch it last October but never got round to it.

I think i prefer Exorcist 3 but still haven't bought that on Blu. It's crime was that it was one of the last dvd's i watched before my dvd player went to dvd heaven.

Having said that i love the opening scenes of the original film in Iraq, seeing the Pazuzu statue...hugely effective.

Isn't the Legion cut poor quality?

It's one of those with VHS inserts as the removed scenes have had the film elements destroyed as were the case in the 80s and 90s. The main cut of the film is full HD all the way through.

Thanks. VHS inserts really grate with me. The Shameless release of Top Sensation is awful in that respect.

I'm happy to watch a poor quality dvd as i did with Terror in the Crypt last week it's the jumping between the two formats that annoys.

Yeah vhs inserts and a LOT of monologue......good for insomnia!

One of my favourite steelbooks below.....Got a mate who was visiting family across the pond to nip into Best Buy!

I remember when that big Warner VHS boxset came out-Virgin in Argyle Street,I had already been in HMV and bought a standard release (Gold I think was widescreen and came in the big box, silver was fullscreen-correct me if I'm wrong).I took it back in to HMV was refunded and straight into Virgin for the big box.
Global video had a pile of ex-rentals with that shitetitle font once the furore had died down....

The following week I found a VHS Precert in a second hand record shop down the 'Cow wynd' in Falkirk for a fiver!

I think it was called 'Sleeves' any Jock members remember it?
They had a shop in Kircaldy as well.....

The company is a new(ish) UK outfit that specialise in small runs of hard to find films, this particular one is a TV movie from '83. I'm only interested in it from the thread at blu-ray.com and people were saying how much they loved it, I looked it up on YouTube the whole film is on there. I'd never actually heard of it previously.

They also released Peter Capaldi's pretty awesome Soft Top, Hard Shoulder (which was an instant purchase) and Sneakers (which reminds that I still need to get).

I have the first Screenbound release of this as a steelbook. Wasn't there something about the first pressings being faulty and a replacement scheme?

I have the steelbook as well. Yeah, the first pressings had a moment missing from the end scene on the platform. It was as the skeleton turns.
When the replacement disc came back all restored I noticed that the yellow tint over the movie which was also a concern on the first pressing was also reduced.

J Harker 3rd November 2022 01:56 PM

I never got around to getting my disc replaced

Looks like we may have another player, a new label called Treasured Films have submitted The Last Hunter to the BBFC. If it's reasonably priced, it's a pretty good introduction for them.

Surprised 88 Films let it slip through their fingers.

They've also mentioned Satan's Little Helper as well

Is it likely to happen do you think, Stephen? He must have done quite well to be able to buy and restore prints of old films or at least negotiate a deal to produce and distribute already restored films.

Same. It'll be interesting to see what they have for artwork and extra features, and if they can pay the big names to provide commentaries and interviews.
