Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story. 2004.

A owner of a run down gym competes in a dodgeball tournament with some of his members only to find out his competitor who owns the gym next to him is also competing also.

Every so often a slapstick comedy comes along and watch it constantly then forget about it then you decide to watch it and remember how hilarious it is. Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller stars as the gym owners competing for the big money. Stiller's character is well written as the rich honcho who relies on his looks that can make him 'Real Frickin' Naughty' and Rip Torn as the ageing dodgeball champion who doesnt have much luck of the Irish. If you can dodge a wrench you can dodge a ball.

Dressed To Kill. 1980.

Brian De Palma springs into his element of delivering a intense, dreamy, erotically charged thriller, with Michael Caine as psychiatrist being stalked by a patient, Angie Dickenson as his over sexed patient who doesn't mind a bit of a backseat bunk up in a taxi with a fellow passenger while the taxi driver gets a free show. Nancy Allen as the high earning...lady that delivers a lot pleasure to men who witnesses a murder and Keith Gordon who seems like the unsurprisingly hero of the hour.

This was the first-time seeing this and it's one that I thought I'd never enjoy but surprisingly I did, a few good twists and turns that I wasn't expecting. Dennis Franz always seems to be a hot head in films and in this he is a bit more calmer playing the detective who gives out one or two surprise moments. After the murder we are thrown into the mystery of the blonde woman and second guessing as to who it is then its revealed and the answer why is a bit interesting. There is a unintentional or intentional funny moment with Nancy and Keith in a restraunt and a elderly lady eavesdropping on their conversation that you can only laugh at her expression.

Jason Lives: Friday The 13th VI (1986)

Raking over cold ash is always fun isn't it? Paramount certainly thought so. Their relationship with the man in the mask was always fraught, none more so here ...
Reopening the site of a previous massacre to provide a sumnmer camp for kids should go well, no? No.
Some fun here, but not much. Shame.

What did you think of the scene with Lance Armstrong? I haven't seen this in a long time, not since Armstrong was exposed as one of the worst cheats in sporting history, making his motivational talk very unusual.

To be honest when that scene came up I fast forward that part, being a famous sports person that was caught cheating in a sport and hearing him give motivational speech would be hypocritical.

Deathmoon. 1978.

Robert Foxworth plays Jason who is stressed out by work and his doctor suggests he takes a holiday and heads to Hawaii, what Jason doesn't know is that his family bloodline is cursed.

This was a made for T.V. Movie which I seem to have come across and enjoyed a few, but this was not the best, the character seems to be making one or to dumb decisions, the creature make up was decent and almost the same as Lon Chaney's Wolf Man. The gore is very minimum and the attacks were predictable. Not exactly edge of your seat film, maybe a second viewing of this will happen.

Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey (2023, Rhys Frake-Waterfield)

Shoving trauma porn into a slasher flick. That's where we are at now.
To be fair, a few shots here were creepy AF. A few. Otherwise, it was business as usual.
It starts reasonably, with the parody narration and that, but just jettisons that for the sake of ... what now? Not tension or suspense. Shame. Charming ending for all that.

The Abomination (1986)

Found a slightly betterer print on the YT. Still mad as bats, kind of like if Troma made The Deadly Spawn? VS or AGFA need to be putting this one out sharpish!!!:loveeyes::pop2:

Rookie cop Jessica has an unusual first day on the job when she is sent to guard a station that is just about to close down but there is some hazardous evidence in a lock up that needs to be collected. Jessica is left alone until the hazard guys show up with all calls transferred to the new station one strange call keeps slipping through with a young girl begging for help from Jessica but the call me er lasts long enough to get too much detail. Apart from the strange phone call other strange things start to happen around the station making this one first day she will never forget.

Went into this with a very positive feeling with the praise this film gets but I didn't take long before I started losing interest. It's starts out with a great idea but it just got a little boring I have seen this compared to Assault on Precinct 13..... SAAAAAY WHAAAAAT. The feeling of claustrophobia and been trapped is gone when Jessica seems to just walk in and out of the building any time she feels like and her choosing to go back inside really detracts from the dangers inside. I didn't get the creepy atmosphere that most people seem to talk about it just felt flat to me and all the figures just flashing behind her then they are not there has been done so many times and much better too.

I heard over the weekend that there was a remake of this happening by the same director maybe with more if a budget he might manage to make this work but honestly that's not an excuse to make a bland film when many more can achieve so much more on a shoe string.

Not for me.

On a miserable dark wet night a lone female in town for a job interview pulls up outside her rented Air BnB. After forcing herself out of her car into the rain she discovers the keys to her accommodation are missing. Trying to contact the people who she rented the place from she cant get an answer returning to her car to shelter from the elements and plan her next move suddenly a man appears at the door just as startled as she is it would appear the place has been doubled booked . After some time chatting and hopelessly trying to get a hotel room they decide that he will take the couch and she will take the bed until they can sort something out the next day. What seems like a risky situation escalates but not for the reasons one might expect when two strangers take a chance on each other but inside this house things are far darker than they appear from the outside.

Barbarian gets off to a great start obviously the decision making right off the bat is a little stupid but no bad decisions no film so we look past that one . I'll try not to give too many details with a film that's so new so excuse me if I'm a little vague here.

When things really kick off you might be forgiven for thinkinh aw for f**k sake after the start of the film would suggest it's going to be a different sort of film entirely but it is quite sinister and disturbing althought not in your face with gore or explicit details it's what we don't see that makes this so dark even little subtle details after the film is over and you think back it's full of so many unsettling little things that really stuck with me since last night. Its easy to take it all at face value and think well that's rediculous but there is a lot going on under the surface if you really pay attention.

I really loved Justin Longs character what a little weasley scum bag he is.

I really enjoyed it and it has improved as I think even more about it and let it all settle in. The soundtrack also deserves a special mention really gets under the skin brilliant.

I really hope that can be classed as a review for how vague it was

It's a thumbs up from me.

The Devil Returns (1983, Richard Chen)

HK madness with that giallo flavour? Why not indeed. A young couple find more than croup when they find they are expecting.
A shame here as the hideously dark print hides some of the fun, but I persevered. Recovering from a past trauma to start life afresh? Check!
Totally ridiculous FX? Check! All in all, this was rather lovely tbh.

The Barn Part II (2022, Justin M. Seaman)

Now this is what that load of old Pooh should have been :nod::lol:
Several cult luminaries pop up to add some fun to this silly, gurgly, grotty delight. It didn't hurt that I found the female lead rather cute ...
Another haunted house caper? For shame Demoncrat, repeats we get on the BBC :pound:
I digress.
When a sorority decides to make this year's Halloween go with a bang, little do they know what the future holds in store for them ...

Dark Nature (2009)

The story of a family who go to visit the kids grandmother on a remote part of the Scottish coastline. Thats all you need to know about the plot as to go any further gives things away.

A second time viewing for me and once again i really liked this. From its shocking opening to the end credits. Director Marc de Launay, for me has created a beautiful piece of low budget cinema. It's no thrill ride i admit but every shot seems to hold some sort of secret to the story and not a piece of film seems wasted, the director certainly has an eye for a scene.

The cast of unknown actors do a great job, their performances are believable and hold the viewers attention whilst making you care about them. Mostly.

Another stand out is the musical score. Often just a single piano note, it creates a quite disturbing build up of tension.

The film is one that can clearly be taken on two levels. It can be seen as just another slasher film akin to Bava's A Bay of Blood (1971) but thats just lazy. It clearly isn't just another slasher movie. Whilst very bloody in places the film has aspects of Long Weekend (1978) which were far creepier and stuck in the head longer than any machete blade.

A double bill of Italian knockoffs of mad Max.

The first is mixup of Mad Max and a sword and sorcery film. Here a small group of survivors here about a magical place were people are immortal , we have psychotic gangs, undying pigmies and Amazon's . Terrible but in a good way.

The second was more enjoyable , a gang calling themselves the temples are terrorising the wasteland, a few people band together to stop them . We have George Eastman and Fred Williamson and that kid from house by the cemetery who's some psychotic little car whizz. Enjoyable .

With going to watch John Wick 4 on Friday thought it was time to give the first 3 a rewatch. So now watching the first.

Shazam and his fellow Superheros are treated as jokes but they have to defend Earth from vengeful Gods played by Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu. DC's answer to Guardians Of The Galaxy, this does have some funny moments and it's not that bad. It is a bit too long though.

Madison is a woman living with many demons not just the trauma of having a string of miscarriages but she is also in an extremely abusive relationship which seems to be the cause of her misfortune with going full term. One night her partner smashes her head into a wall resulting in the loss of another child but karma comes back on him that very night when an intruder enters their house and kills the abusive spouse. From that night on Madison starts to experience visions of people's murders as they happen and she is forced to work with the police to try help stop the killer from taking more lives but she is more connected to these cases than anyone could of imagined.

Jesus Christ this was a very infuriating and painful watch there is absolutely no positives here everything is a mess. First off the look feel and the acting was like a something made for SYFY channel. I usually would laugh at a badly acted scene but I couldn't even crack a smile at any stage here there is one scene where Madison comes clean to her sister about the fact she was adopted and the expression on her sisters face was just so painfully stupid I was gobsmacked. The story is so bad and the convenience of things happening was laughable but not laughable at all it just hurt to watch. A scene where the sister is trying to find the files about Madison's adoption and she breaks into this gigantic abandoned building parks right in the edge of a cliff walks into the first room finds the files documents pictures biological mother's history where she is now and video tapes just laying there GOD SAKE. I swear the longer the film goes on the worse it gets the dialogue gets cheesier and cheesier with every sentence some of the most generic embarssessing badly written dialogue I have ever heard. A lot of the film was ripped straight from the directors time directing Incidious a little bit of one trick pony action.

What starts like a slasher turns into a psychological horror then turns into a possession movie then when it's bored with that turns into John Wick and then when that's played out goes back to possession
Christ alive make up your bloody mind what sort of film your trying to make.

As always I have to talk music it's so important to me in films and here it drove me crazy it was all over the place sinister 80s synth music just thrown into a scene where they are driving down the street then looking at a building and talking about going in it was so out of place I couldn't even focus on the dialogue I think kepth thinking why is this happening what's going on. A few minutes later there is some techno music playing while they are having another conversation the soundtrack has to be one of the most mixed up I have ever heard but not even placed in appropriate places it's not used to create tension or atmosphere just feelings of rage inside me.

I absolutely hate this film and I went to bed pissed off last night that I wasted two hours of my life on this abomination.

Always enjoyed this from seeing it years ago on VHS, a priest who has survived being throwing out a 17 story window is giving comission of church , which the last few priests had been ritualistically murdered , he gets involved in the life of a waitress at a satanic club soon disturbing and gruesome things start happening which the church says is the work of a demon which the priest doesn't believe but soon changes his mind.

It's a very enjoyable horror with some tense moments and good kills and gore.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AUmvWm5ZDQ

This is just a fantastic action movie that gave the world a new action hero in the form of John Wick and what a action hero , the man you sent to kill the bogeyman , they should of just sent him after Micheal Myers and we wouldn't have had too put up with those poor sequels .

John's car is stolen and dog is killed , which Was a present from his late wife. This makes John unearth a part of his life he had thought he had buried for good.

So starts a bloody and brutal quest. The action scenes are amazing with Wick using kungfu , gun-fu and even car-fu to dispatch endless bad guys. A classic of the genre . Watch out for the late Lance Reddick is a enjoyabe role as a hotel Concierge.

Red Spell Spells Red (1983, Titus Ho)

When a film crew blunder about in an ancient tomb, guess what they unleash? It's not Caspar :lol:
This one. Whilst it is fairly crazed on the whole, there is also a whole lot of animal cruelty, and if you ain't fond of scorpions .... forewarned and all that.

Sex Wish (1976, Milton Vikkers)

Well, I found a film that made Water Power seem tasteful and demure.
Easily the least "erotic" flick that I've ever seen :rolleyes::laugh:
Welcome To New York. The folk here are real friendly, but since space is an issue, we'll skip over the formalities and get down to business.

This was quite the night. Plenty of meat on show and that. Tonight may be tamer, it couldn't be worse .... could it? :pound:

Lavalantula. 2015.

Taking a look at the title you know what to expect, even with the film being shown on SyFy/Horror (before it became HorrorXtra) channel that I somehow missed. The film re-unites Steve Gutenberg with Marion Ramsay and Michael Winslow, Leslie Easterbrook does show up in a small cameo role, you know this will be a comedy.

I must have blinked and missed how the spiders became involved in the volcanic eruption that mutated them and became fire breathing spiders (no you didn't read it wrong they spit fire balls). As with most creature features these days expect the spiders to look great and amazing...who am I kidding they are CGI created. Good for its laughs and small in joke to Sharknado.

Exists (2014)

From Eduardo Sanchez co-writer and director of The Blair Witch Project, Exists is yet more found footage tomfoolery.

However unlike most films of this ilk, Exists is pretty good. It's story about a group of friends who travel deep into the remote Texas woods to stay at a cabin, belonging to one of their fathers, for a wild weekend of debauchery, is nothing new, in fact it borders on cliché. Where Exists and Sanchez redeem their selves is in the 'found footage'.

Thankfully we get to see what the group are up against early doors - Bigfoot - albeit in shaky footage, but it piques your interest and the fact Bigfoot features in the film constantly is definitely a bonus.

The end result is a decently creepy film with good Bigfoot costumes and make up and some scarily effective set pieces. All in all Exists is definitely one of the better Bigfoot movies out there.

Forbidden Wolrd. 1982.

Roger Corman strikes again with a low budget film that rips off Alien, there is some decent gore and we do see the alien puke up. The dialogue is a laugh and not the best even with the two female leads that sound like they are going to have their first lesbian experience rather than go alien hunting. There is some re-used stock footage for the space ship fight and plenty of flashing images, though this film is still entertaining after so many watches.

Just watched the Dario Argento Italian cut of Romero's Martin, had never seen it before. Italian dvd without english subtitles but because I watched the new Martin blu-ray earlier this week, my wife and I didn't miss subtitles. It was very interesting. I knew this cut was shorter but what surprised me was how out of sequence much of it was (compared to the US cut).

Another surprise was that there was around ten minutes of exclusive Goblin music, for years I had been under the impression that there would just be an exclusive ninety second track at the end. Talking of Goblin, there should is a lot of them in this version, it's almost similar to an eighty minute music video. Luckily I very much like their music. :) Fascinating afternoon watch.

Over the years I've started to prefer this version of the film which is kind of crazy to say haha. I like the snappier pace and the pounding soundtrack, but it's pretty serious as anything remotely funny in the Romero version is taken away.

Youngblood. 1986.

Rob Lowe plays the young farm hand who has ambitions of being a hockey player and is snapped up by a scout to try for the Canadian Hamilton Mustangs.

You don't need to be a fan of ice hockey to enjoy this little number from the 80s, with Patrick Swayze as the team mate who is a bit cocky and ends up feeling the end of the stick from opponent George Finn. Ed Lauter is the tough but fair team coach who's daughter Cynthia Gibb has a crush on the new team member. As much as this is a good sports film and decent acting adds up to the small drama mixed in to make it entertaining.

Concorde Affaire. 1979.

After a Concorde jet crashes, a journalist believes it was sabotage and goes in search for answers only to find the stewardess had survived the crash.

I'm sure it be no surprise that the Italians jumped on the band wagon for disaster movies and made this one that was released around the same time as Airport: Concorde was released in America.

James Fransiscus plays the investigative journalist who believes someone is sabotaging the Concorde airlines in order to eliminate the compition to flying the friendly skies. Mimsy Farmer plays the French stewardess who hold the answers on how to save the next Concorde before it meets a similar fate.

Ruggero Deodatto does manage to bring some entertainment to the screen, the effects are not the best and seem to be stock footage from another film. There is a nice scuba underwater sequence that leads to a good chase and small street shootout, it's not a masterpiece but it's certainly worth a watch.

Livide (2011)

A cracking follow up to Inside (2007) from French directors Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo.

A film which fore goes the visceral punishing terror of that film and instead plays out like a twisted fairy tale from the Brothers Grimm with all the sick shit left in.

Most definitely influenced by Dario Argento, specifically Suspiria (1977) and 1980's Inferno, Livide is a haunting dream like film set in an old dark house populated by a decrepit witch like vampire and the veiled corpses of ballerinas.

Livide is strange, unnerving and deliciously bloody. I loved this when it first came out and think i love it even more now.

I Spit on Your Grave meets the Hills Have Eyes but no mutated people running about or any snippy snippy with tickle tackle. Matilda Lutz plays Jen who somehow survives a cliff drop with a sudden stop on a tree stump and able to do home made cortorisation with a beer can. It goes to show you don't need big budget to make a decent revenge film and show a bit of creativity for the victim. Some good cringe worth moments. A mix of english and french language with subtitles.

Sure are some cringe inducing moments. I was squirming at parts of the film.

Great film, this gets better with every viewing, this and Martyrs on a double feature viewing is recommended for a good cringe worthy night.

I've never really loved Martyrs. I just thought it wasn't all that. The first half at the house is good but i became bored during the second half.

I need to see their latest, The Deep House. Added it to my Amazon wishlist earlier tonight.

Yes it does. Not your typical haunted house film is it.

Think i'll go with either Among the Living or Leatherface now and be asleep for one.

If it's possible to sleep after watching stuff from Maury and Bustillo
