Not a DVD but I picked up the rare UK Magnetic VHS of Soldier Blue in a charity shop (for a Wild Westerly 30p). Absolutely remarkable condition for it's age (1981) and the only fully uncut UK release of the film to date. http://www.shameless-films.com/forum...coolgleamA.gif

Vince,I really need to follow your lead and hit charity shops down your way,the ones up here all have crap in them.....:(

Recent videos I've picked up in charity shops:

Amsterdamned
Sharky's Machine (pre-cert)
The Onion Field
The Presidio (old 4Front gold coloured cover)
Rollerball (remake)
Southern Comfort
The Island (pre-cert)
Bloodbath Of Dr. Jekyll (pre-cert *couldn't believe I got this one*)
The Lamp (with special casing)
A Stranger Waits
Cyborg & Bloodsport
The Wraith
Mask Of Murder
The Last Starfighter

All of that for £10 . I just need to watch 'em all now though I have got through 4 of 'em. I know some are on DVD but the artwork and the price won me over.

It's great because not only am I building on my already big collection but I'm also giving money to charity whilst doing so... perfick.

I've just watched THE OFFENCE with Sean Connery....depressing,but powerful film.

vincenzo 28th November 2008 10:54 PM

Great film. One of (possibly even) Connery's best and a brilliant performance from Ian Bannen too.

A right fruit and nut job, yeah,a far cry from 007 Vince. That WAS a performance.

Bought a few cheapo DVD's today. Phantom of the Mall: Eric's Revenge and Aerobicide along with a few more Elstree Hill Blaxploitation releases. They might only be straight VHS transfers but the artwork is absolutely superb. I currently own the following Elstree Hill titles, they all look great together.

You can't go far wrong with Aerobicide. That's such a fantastic (and underrated) film. Eric's Revenge is entertaining too if a little rough around the edges. If you want to pick up those Dead of Night cheapies there's a 10 disc box set doing the rounds. It shouldn't cost you much more than a fiver. "Shock Horror Collection" it's called.
