Taking advantage of the school hols we've been doing a few daytrips with the kids. Today was a trip up to Hay-On-Wye, a town in Wales consisting largely of second hand book shops. As a day out it fell flat on its face trying to look around beautifully quaint old musty bookstores with kids. On the way up however I had opportunity to stop off and take this picture. Its something I only recently realised was relatively speaking on my doorstep.
Anyone recognise it?20210813_134754_copy_3024x1470.jpg

Nice D@D. I don't live in a very movie location heavy part of the world really. Apparently some old Dr.Who was filmed at Big Pit in Blaenavon. The coal mine where my father worked until Maggie came along.
An episode called The Pirate Planet was filmed there in the late 70s apparently.

This is The Parade in Barnoldswick, West Yorkshire. The classic British movie A Private Function was filmed there. Starring Michael Palin, Maggie Smith, Denholm Elliott and Pete Postlethwaite among others.

I took the pic at night (clearly) as i was walking by and thought the decorations looked lovely. Far nicer than the photo shows.

Been into Cornwall a couple of times in the last few weeks and I revisited a few locations from Straw Dogs and Dracula (1979).

St. Buryan is the back drop for the Peckinpah film - it's a small village that's about 15 minutes from Land's End - you'll see the streets, Church and monument still look as they did in the film, fifty years ago. Lamorna Cove is also seen in the film.
