Roald Dahl’s 'The Witches' re-imagining

Well that looks shite...

NOPE! No no no.
That looks awful, doesn't seem to match the tone of the book at all.

I think it looks pretty good and will give it the benefit of the doubt because it's directed by Robert Zemeckis. My main reservation is at the beginning of the voice-over because it seems that it will end the same way as Nicholas Roeg's film rather than how the book finishes.

I think it was tonally too 'child funny' which I know makes sense being a film for children, but Roald Dahl was famous for his dark humour.
I admit I did laugh when one of the kids turned mice said 'why have they turned us into mouses' and the other two shouted 'Mice!' hah

It'll be interesting to see how the film works (or doesn't) with a very different aesthetic to the previous adaptation of Roald Dahl's novel. Like you, I laughed at that it in the trailer and hope the film will be – as it should be – both funny and scary.
