Well Cannibal Holocaust didn't make the top ten. That surprised me.

In the alternate list the most popular film so far is The Omen with 7 seven votes.

I'm actually surprised it fared so highly. Jaws and Night of the Living Dead on the other hand I thought would have done better.

People seem to get very excited on here every time a new release of Holocaust hits the shelves i just thought it would be higher.

You know the list where something wins because it gets most votes. I believe it's called democracy.

I'm well aware that with only twenty voters the democratic route would not really make sense for such a large list as we'd have twenty films on four votes, 33 on five and so on.

I think it's a hot topic more due it's notoriety (especially in the UK) rather than people thinking of it as a fantastic film. That's not to say that people don't rate it - myself included.

It really isn't - you have to allow for list positioning after all. If everyone posted a Top 100 with the same film at no. 100 it would win by default using this system, yet it wouldn't really be representative of members' favourite film.

You obviously anticipated my response to some extent.

Whilst you guys debate the list and it's validity i have been taking notes on what i haven't seen - Some of the films i didn't vote for! i'm an idiot!

One question folks, What's so bloody scary about Jacob's Ladder? is it missing a rung or something? lol, but seriously i haven't seen it, is it good?

Love this list BE!

Jacob's Ladder is more of a mind**** film than an all out horror. It certainly assaults your senses and Tim Robbins is great in it. Still, all that said, it's not a favourite of mine.

Thanks for the kind words Vipp - however it's you guys (and gal) who've put in the work by constructing your lists, I've just shoved them all together, so my role is little more than monkey work...

I think Cannibal Holocaust is a brilliant film, but I didn't put it on my list because I would not classed as one of my favourites – at least not one of my hundred favourite genre films!
