This thread is too funny, why have people become so vocal about these films! lol As for The Lost boys... 'you can't polish a turd' and that's a fact.

Here's some footage which occurred during ND's transition from Cult fave to Twishite wannabe. The remastering technique shown here says it all.

Near Dark is clearly the better film but I have more love for The Lost Boys. That is all. |

People just keep bringing up "love" and " nostalgia" when talking about Lost boys! I've said it once and i'll say it again, take that nostalgia away and you WILL realise how utterly shite they are. You've even admitted Near Dark is better multiple times! Checkmate!

Well near dark does have Tim Thomerson so that's a plus, he makes anything watchable, but my vote still goes to lost boys.

The wife said she has seen both films and Near Dark bored her to the point of death and Lost Boys was cheesy a great movie...

I rented the Lost Boys when it was first released on VHS (ahem, 25 years ago). I was thirteen. I rented it again a few weeks later when I was off school for a week and watched it four or five times. I bought the sell through video the day it came out and watched it until the tape became defective. Bought another copy. Bought the widescreen LaserDisc, regular DVD and 2-Disc special edition before settling on the Blu-ray. I've also seen it on the big screen. If I wastched the film fresh now for the first time it would have no appeal but each time I watch it it takes me back to the time when I first saw it. I love the soundtrack too. I've only seen Near Dark twice. Once on VHS (I owned the big box rental tape) and on DVD (I have the Anchor Bay US double discer). It's a great film - I'm also a big fan of Kathryn Bigelow (I love Blue Steel, Strange Days, Hurt Locker and Point Break). |

Pretty much the same for me, I've owned The Lost Boys on various formats since about 1990, yet I only bought Near Dark last year and have only watched the disc twice
