Have'nt seen it in HMV or Zavvi. I've seen an Argento box set in Zavvi but I couldnt get at it to see what was on it as it was beside the Manga section and there was a large crowd of school kids gathered round and I did'nt wanna be rude and push them outta the way. Deep Red, Tennabrae and MOT are easy enough to get in Zavvi and HMV though. I got the latter 2 there. Will get Deep Red when I go to get Night Trains. (soon) I might try the 'World Cinema' section for Suspiria. |
When my local Zavvi was still a Virgin Megastore they always had Suspiria and Tenebre in the horror section. Virgin had a wicked horror section though... Zavvi's is less impressive. We've just had a massive HMV open in Liverpool (hurrah!) and their horror section seems pretty cool so next time I'm in town I'll check out what Argento (if any) they have. |
There are three UK box sets out. First up is: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA240_.jpg Then: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA240_.jpg And finally: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA240_.jpg |
The second one has the best cover art, but I like the first one with Jennifer, too.:o:o:) The ABUK set is certainly an interesting option for Argento newbies, though the cover art is suprisingly flat given the visual euvre of the Argento movie universe. |
The ABUK set contains the uncut version of Stendhal Syndrome - but it's full-bloody-screen!! :ack: |
It was the first or second one that I saw. It definetly had a white sleave. Tennabrae I got for a fiver, but the last time I saw Suspiria was about 6 months ago in a small indie shop. |
What about favourite Argento moments. It's such a small thing but the eye in the closet in Deep Red spooks me big time - makes me think of the blue meanies. I also love any moment where the killer is outside the door/window/on telephone whispering sweet nothings along the lines of "I'm gonna slice yer bollocks off yer bastard", which he seems to go in for quite a bit. |
I love those moments too, Evan. I love the bit in Profondo Rosso where the killer whispers something like, "I'm going to kill you later" through to door at Hemmings. Spooks me big time! |
Argento was a real innovator in terms of where he placed the camera too. There's a cracking shot during the credit sequence of FOUR FLIES when he shoots from behind the strings of an acoustic guitar. :D |
Is'nt there a scene in Deep Red were the killer's face can be briefly glimpsed in a mirror as the camera moves along a corridor of mirrors and paintings, or somthing. I've never managed to see it though. The last time I looked was when Isaw Deep Red on the Redemption vhs., |
