“SOME SEQUENCES OF TORTURE MAKE ‘SAW’ LOOK LIKE KIDS’ STUFF.” - FEARNET

Directed by Daniel Grou (Vampire High; Big Wolf On Campus; The Hunger), aka Podz, and adapted for the screen by author Patrick Senécal (5150 Elm’s Way; Evil Words) from his best-selling novel, ‘Les sept jours du talion’, 7 Days is an intense and disturbing French Canadian thriller in the tradition of the 'Saw’ movies, but if they had been directed by Michael Haneke (Funny Games) or Lars von Trier (Antichrist).

Middle-aged surgeon Bruno Hamel (Claude Legault), his wife Sylvie (Fanny Mallette) and their eight-year-old daughter Jasmine (Rose-Marie Coallier) are living a happy but fairly uneventful life in the quiet suburban town of Drummondville. That all changes one beautiful autumn afternoon when Jasmine fails to return home from school and is later found to have been raped and murdered by a local man, Anthony Lemaire (Martin Dubreuil). The loss of their daughter has a profound effect on Bruno and Sylvie, driving a wedge between them and leaving both, particularly Bruno, drowning in a whirlpool of despair.

When the killer-rapist is eventually arrested and scheduled to appear in court charged with the multiple murders of young female victims, Bruno’s emotions turn from guilt and grief to anger and a desire for revenge inspiring him to hatch a detailed plot to kidnap Lemaire, take him to a secret location and make him pay for his crimes. Everything goes according to plan and with the monster now in his custody Bruno contacts the police and reveals his terrifying intentions: he will torture Lemaire for seven days before executing him and then turning himself in…

A dark exploration of the mind of a man driven to the edge of sanity by his own grief, this bold thriller with graphic scenes of violence that push the scenario into the realms of pure horror premiered at the Sundance Film Festival 2010 to wide acclaim. Starring Claude Legault (Everything Is Fine) as the broken father and husband seeking the ultimate revenge and Martin Dubreuil (The Broken Line; Everything Is Fine) as the killer-turned-victim, 7 Days co-stars Fanny Mallette (The Broken Line; Continental, A Film Without Guns; A Girl At The Window) and award winning, veteran Canadian actor Rémy Girard (Human Trafficking; The Barbarian Invasions; The Red Violin).

7 Days (cert. 18) will be released on DVD (£12.99) by E1 Entertainment on 23rd August 2010.

So, how do you win this?! Well, in order to win the gory 7 Daysthis week you'll have 7 Days of pure torturous decisions! So many decisions you'll lose your mind down the back of the sofa! It's that tough. Or not.

This week, let's have a bit of fun. ALL you need to do is this:

1) Answer the person above you's tough as nails question.
2) Pose your own question for the next person.

SIMPLE!

The choices/questions can be as simple as "Salt or Pepper?", "VHS or DVD?" "Freddy or Jason?" or better still, something more imaginative such as "Death by a 10-storey jellyfish or Death by a billion tiny jellyfish?" You could even use video clips or pictures if you want - it's up to you. Then someone will choose which they'd prefer and pose their own question. It could be quite a laugh and plus we'll get to know each other more too.

The three winners will be chosen next sunday before another (flesh-eating) competition and the way I will select the winners is by putting those who contributed the most into a draw and randomly selecting three winners.

Make sense?

Ok, I'll start off with a super tough question (!)

So which would/do you prefer:
(all choices should start with this phrase, but you don't have to write it each time)

To dance like NOES 2's Jessie -

OR

F13: Final Chapter's Crispin Glover?

See these are the most difficult questions EVER! Move over PHDs!

So, off you go and

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!
