Here is my top 50 list. If Alien is going to be classed more horror than Sci-Fi, I hope the hounds of Dem will be unleashed if anyone includes - Event Horizon or Carpenter's 'The Thing' as they both have far more horror in them than sci-fi. :doorscare: I'm also looking forward to learning about more films from you all, this thread is great. :) :skull: ****************************** Vipp's Top 50 Sci-Fi Films. 01. 1 Attachment(s) Does Threads count seeing as it's tv? If so i'll be loading my list with a certain tv programme. |
It was a sci-fi movie, although made for t.v so not sure if allowed  still good though  |

Tv movies are different to episodic programmes. :mmph: Shame as i would have liked to throw in some Doctor Who, Day of the Triffids, The Nightmare Man, Blakes-7 etc. |
You could always put in the Peter Cushing jobs.;) |

I nearly included the Peter Cushing Dr Who's but there were sooo many to choose from, perhaps the next list could be horror/sci-fi t.v episodes? These lists are great, after compiling my sci-fi list I realise how much effort people are putting in. It is helping me compile another list of 'need to see' films. |

Great list, cant believe I missed off The Blob, I even like the remake. some films on there Ive never heard of ( more for my 'to see list') and some I never thought about even though Ive seen them. A boy and his dog, cult stuff. |

I suppose The Day of the Doctor as well seeing as it had a cinema release in the UK and US among other countries. |
Wow, a few of the lists here are shocking. Not what i expected would have cropped up at all. |
I'm wondering in regards to the merits of making the list Sci-Fi and Fantasy, considering there is often quite a bit of cross-over. between genres... ...feel free to stone me to death if desired. :mob: |

I do get your point though, and we're probably better not over-complicating things. |

What's sometimes hard to define is when a film with sci-fi elements is a sci-fi or not, I've noticed in these lists loads of films that aren't sci-fi outright. |

I agree in not over complicating things, each to their own, and if you think one film is not sci-fi and someone else does, then apart from 'stonning them to death' they are not likely to change their minds and that is what makes this site great for me! For example, if somebody goes back in time or across dimensions, using science and technology, in a mutts nuts of a space ship and ends up in a troll and dragon infested world where does this sit? Can anyone think of a movie like this and what is it classed as if so? :pop2: |
