The Cabal cut of Nightbreed is easily superior; I find the theatrical version pretty much unwatchable. That said, I'm still not a fan.

When it comes to modern cinema, I think there is too much out...

The nineties is quite a difficult decade in respect to horror. Whilst there are a few gems, the 'horror high' was certainly coming to an end, and for me is one of the worst decades for horror cinema....

I can scrape together a decent top 5, all of which are generally considered 'horror':

01. I Walked with a Zombie (1943)
02. Dead of Night (1945)
03. The 7th Victim (1943)
04. The Wolf Man...

I haven't seen many (decent) horror films from the 2010s yet, but can scrape together a Top 10, that I'm fairly happy with. Top 5 would have probably been better, though...

01. Beyond the Black...

Yes, I'm not the biggest fan of comedy-horror crossovers (with a few notable exceptions), and although a lot of people love Shaun of the Dead, I can't take to it. It's not through lack of trying...

Decent list, SJ.

Although I can't 'like' it, as I refuse to 'like' anything that has Shaun of the Dead in it, I'm afraid.
