I did wonder about those redone effects in The Devil Rides Out and it is a little suspicious that he didn't comment on them. Still, to negatively criticise Curse of Frankenstein he must have watched...

Well there's 2 versions that come with the new Icon/Lionsgate BD: 1.37:1 (academy ratio) and 1.66:1...

Judging by that Hammer article on aspect ratios, which was really informative, the 1.37:1...
