Finished THE BOYS season 2 on Friday. Fracking awesome! Renewed for a third season. |

Just started the haunting of Bly manor. |
1 Attachment(s) Attachment 228446 JUSTICE LEAGUE SEASON 1 (2002) Action packed and exciting 26 episodes. When this Justice League exploded on to the TV, the restrictions of the old 'SuperFriends' cartoons were gone. The heroes were able to actually engage in a fight with who or whatever foe came their way. Great stuff! |
Wicked Science: The Truth Is Out There. A heated competition between Elizabeth and Sasha over the school science fair takes a back seat when Jack gets access to Elizabeth's secret lab, a truth serum - and a video camera. This one starts off looking like it's going to be a bit meh - and Sasha's sudden bitchiness to Elizabeth seems a bit random and out of nowhere - but escalates into a surprisingly tense affair as Jack comes closer than ever to exposing Toby and Elizabeth's secret. Toby and Elizabeth working together is always fun, and it's indicative of the strange relationship they have this season, as even though Toby refuses to countenance the prospect of a relationship with her and remains combative with her, there's a mutual trust and understanding between them nonetheless - and, kind of following on from last week, Verity using the truth serum to force Elizabeth into admitting she likes her is both funny and sweet.:nod: |
The Walking Dead: Seasons 9 and 10 With a sizeable time gap (perhaps six years) since the end of season eight and with one of the major characters no longer in the show, things are very different and I found it a refreshing change to a show which was in danger of becoming very samey and dull. When I finished the 9th season, I couldn't wait to begin the 10th, so went straight on and thought it was excellent TV. Bring on season 11! The Haunting of Bly Manor Heavily influenced by Henry James's The Turn of the Screw (and The Innocents, Jack Clayton's brilliant 1961 film based on that novella), this is a really well made miniseries with some good jumps, superb performances, and intrigue. I didn't realise it was a second season of a show called The Haunting, so I'm now a few episodes into The Haunting of Hill House and really liking it so far. The links to Robert Wise's The Haunting (1963) and Shirley Jackson's novel The Haunting of Hill House are included cleverly and respectfully. |
Young bottom 1 Attachment(s) The nasty episode and Terror episodes especially for this time of year.. |
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7JT3iMzS4k A new take on the Sherlock Holmes story. Here it's set in New York ,Holmes has moved too New York after a Drug problem . Watson is now a woman and is a ex surgeon and Holmes " sober companion". Watched first and second season. First season we see the introduction of the other main characters Captain Thomas Gregson and Detective Bell, with have various cases but the main theme is Moriarty who Holmes believes is responsible for the death of his girlfriend. Second season deals with separate cases once again but we also have contained story's of Lestrade ( Shaun Pertwee) who career has come to a end and has not rock bottom when Holmes left for America, also introduced to Holmes brother Mycroft who have not spoke in years and becomes romantically involved with Watson, here Mycroft ( Rhys Ifans) appears to be a chief who owns a number of restaurants but is there something more sinister to him. Watson growth as a detective in her own right begins to grow under Holmes tutoring. Have to say the more this series went on the more I enjoyed it more than Sherlock. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZU9ZtlkSnnE Also finished Ratched a couple a week's ago, it's absolutely brilliant great acting all round. Really thought it would not be up to much. Also liked the use of colours too represent different characters and emotions . Roll on season two. One of the best things Netflix have produced. |
X Files season 3. X Files is a weird show these days; I would still consider myself a fan, and the majority of their standalone stories are still first class small screen horror. But I cannot sit through the Conspiracy episodes these days, I find them so utterly boring, and they're so utterly pointless since any development within any of them can be retconned by Carter at a later date... I tend to skip the Conspiracy eps these days and just watch the standalones... :coffin: |
Wicked Science: Air Dog. Still intent on exposing Toby and Elizabeth, Jack steals Toby's anti-grav device and fits it to a dog that Toby's supposed to be looking after for the Principal... This one's okay, with a few amusing moments, though falls a bit flat simply due to there being far too little Elizabeth for my taste. :skull: It's interesting that Jack has now gone from simply wanting to exploit Toby and Elizabeth's genius to actually wanting to learn how they did it so he can become one himself, but Toby continues to insist on making life difficult for himself by actually lying to Elizabeth that everything's fine in the middle of a crisis. I mean, It's not like she could (and would) help or anything... :coffin: |
Lovecraft Country A resolution. A rebirth. A reckoning. Certainly this was based on a novel, what with the ending and all that cough. Leave it there? They should. Go on and do something else. Don't draaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag it out. Twas a bit silly tbh, but being cursed with knowledge, I might not have been the ideal audience etc. To be fair, it ends in a non conventional manner .... it's just that it did slightly remind me of various denouments, The Dunwich Horror (1970) amongst them. |

Wicked Science: Crazy For You. When one of Elizabeth's experiments is ruined by Verity and Garth failing to pay attention while she's absent, she creates an AI robot to ensure such things don't happen again. Unfortunately, said AI starts to become a little too obsessed with her... This is a hoot of an episode, with the AI managing to be genuinely creepy even while obviously being a parody/homage to 2001. Toby continues to frustrate me, continuing to run around like a headless chicken over Nikki - whose interest in him seems to run hot and cold - and while he manages to save the day and rescue Elizabeth, much to her gratitude and a little "moment" ensues between them, he then ruins it by running off to see Nikki. FFS. But the character development Elizabeth has undergone this season continues apace, primarily in the ever-warming relationship between her and Verity. Elizabeth actually apologising to Verity, at first casually and then more sincerely after she calls her on it, is almost as jawdropping to us as it is to Verity, and Elizabeth's embarrassed awkwardness at Verity hugging her, followed by a secret little smile, is genuinely heartwarming. This is another great episode and I continue to like season 2 a great deal more than season 1. :ghostclap: |
Not sure if this is the right place for this, so please move if necessary. Halfway through 'Ju-On: Origins', on Netflix. Boy-o-boy, they've really ratcheted up the violence and gore, compared to the films! Really like it, so far. |
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDrieqwSdgI Wow this was amazing , I was expecting it too be pretty boring but was hooked from the start , the story follows a young woman from childhood who turns out to be a chess prodigy , it might some boring but as I said I was hooked so much I watched it all over two days, gripping and well acted. with ratched this is one of the best shows Netflix have done. Now watching http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljvdTh1jq-Y |
A Re-watch In anticipation of the never previously seen fourth and final series. |
1 Attachment(s) Finished 'Ju-On: Origins' and really liked it, a lot. It's a quick watch, only 6 x 30 min episodes. I'm actually planning on re-watching to try and better piece it all together, then watch the first two films again. |

Japanese. Helps if you've seen the original two films, as it's the origin story of the house. |

Well I've been perusing The Innes Book Of Records on YT. All 3 series. Many highlights including Jake Thackeray, Vivian Stanshall and a Doctor Who song, which is ... of its time ;). I can only imagine that some copyright wrangles prevent the Beeb from putting it out cough .... |

2 Attachment(s) Attachment 229239 SHARPE'S REVENGE (1997) 1814. It's the end of the Peninsular War and Sharpe participates in the Battle Of Toulouse. Meanwhile, his wife Jane, unhappy at his actions, heads off back to England, cashes in all of Sharpe's money and starts an affair with another man. Another good episode and set at the time when Napoleon was in exile on Elba. Attachment 229240 MASH Season 7. More fun with the MASH 4077. The last full season for Radar O' Reilly. |
Finished The Boys season 2 loved every second of it especially Butcher  |
I've recently been watching some Marvel TV shows: the second seasons of Luke Cage and Iron Fist, and I'm now about half way through the fifth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. I like the way Luke Cage ended, meaning it doesn't really need a third season. The same can't be said for Iron Fist, which finished with an episode that could have had 'To Be Continued' at the end. I hope that it is in other shows. Before watching those, I quickly went through both series of Ghosts on BBC iPlayer. It's a funny show which is very easy to watch and one I recommend to everyone here. It's apparently by the people who made Horrible Histories, so if you've seen any of those and enjoyed them, then you should definitely watch this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5e0nB...ab_channel=BBC |
Wicked Science: Time Loop. Increasingly desperate to make something happen with Toby, Elizabeth does a double whammy by not only transporting them both into a parallel universe where they're a couple, but into a time loop on the sixth month anniversary of their couplehood - a loop Toby will stay in until he "gets it right". This is another really fun, and funny episode. Although Elizabeth is obviously doing the wrong thing, she's hilarious and impossible not to feel for anyway. Honestly, I think she needs to give it up though - she seems to be largely over her anger issues this season, but her fixation on Toby, while understandable in a way, is clearly not healthy or doing her any good. Move on, honey. There's plenty more fish in the sea. Incidentally, my phone number is... :behindsofa::whip::laugh: |
Peep Gone back and re-watching Peep Show from the very first series.. It's really entertaining when you rewatch a show, where you can see the characters development, well maybe not in Jez's case, but certainly Mark seems to go through a journey,to the point he becomes a father....Jez on the other hand, seems to be stuck in a rut, drugs, meaningless sex and several attempts at fame... Character development aside, the show has many recurring characters, mainly Uber drug taker Super Hans and love interest Dobby, both of whom are intrinsically to the on going story,in the Peep Show world... Like any good British modern sitcom,it's chock full of quotable line's of dialogue, and of course this is down to the clever writing of Jesse Armstrong and Sam Bain, and of course David Mitchell with his comedy writing partner Robert Webb... Favourite moments from the show are From episode Man Jam, where Super Han's band Man Feelings are jamming, with Jez unsuccessfully joining in on saxophone, later the band change there name to Danny Dyer's Chocolate Hermunculus, which is pure genius...and so is the lyrics from the band's song....*‘I am in loco parentis.*I am the last remaining contestant on the Apprentice.*I am the home-trained dentist.’*...But there are two many classic moments, let's only hope we get to see Jez and Mark in there old age.... |
Onto the last 2 series of tales of the unexpected, Also started watching Adventure time, tbh I only saw few episodes here and there about 5yrs ago, so decided to start from beginning and whiz through them, won’t take long because episodes are only between 10-15 long . Rab C. Nesbitt. Rab, a low life and proud of it scum, living with his wife Mary (Mary Darlin' or Mary Hen') two sons, Gash and Burney spends time talking about society and drinking with his friend Jamsie. Work: When Mary leaves Rab he has to fend for himself but his problems arise when he is forced to take a job. Rat: The Scottish Bi-Elections are coming up, a old Govan pal of Rab's is running, will Rab and his friends vote with or against him. City of Culture: Glasgow is named City of Culture with guests arriving, Rab and Jamsie get into the spirit by starting a fight, Gash and Burney remove the drain covers for scrap metal to sell. Drink: Rab is told he has to give up the drink or he will die within a year. offski: When gash runs away to London, Rab is on his trails and takes up lodgings with Mary's brother who has forgotten his Scottish heritage by acting as a snob. Holiday: The family have won a holiday to Spain joining Jamsie and his wife Ella, and get up to the capers while Gash and Burney manage to find a holiday romance. Watching these brings back memories of Friday nights BBC 2 with laughter, hiccups and memorable phrases, some of the cast in earlier roles before going over to Still Game some 10 years later. Even with the laughs of Rab breaking the fourth wall and describing how he is proud to be scum with his ripped suit and string vest and head band. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvBf4ElDW0E |

Wicked Science: Underwater. Elizabeth creates a defense spray out of toxic octopus venom, but moron Garth lopes off with it to play a 'joke' on Russ, only for it to end up instead impacting not only Elizabeth but a teacher to boot... This is an okay episode. Mildly amusing, but fairly average in comparison to the last few great eps. |
Has anyone seen the second season of the Exorcist? I enjoyed the first season on netflix i seem amazon prime has season 2. |
Started on the boxset of 'Hammer: House of Horror'. First episode was pretty good, second was really, really good. Perfect length, for me - around 50 mins. Can't believe these were shown on tv, in the early 80's - reasonable amount of gore, nudity etc. |
