Definitely. I'm a bit concerned that it's not produced by Lawrence Bender though (although the only other QT film not to be was Grindhouse/Death Proof which I love) and this will be the first film he's directed that won't be edited by Sally Menke since she died in 2010 so it could potentially be quite a different film from his previous ones. Whether that'll be good or bad I don't know. The synopsis sounds great though.

iluvdvds@Cult Labs 13th April 2012 12:12 PM

Can't wait to see this either! Tarantino is the man (if you totally ignore Death Proof *coughcough*loadofcrap*coughcough* ). It's going to be good!

Pffft...Death Proof was fantastic!

Tom Savini's in Django Unchained by the way, just to add to its potential awesomeness. And...er...Sacha Baron Cohen (although I've never actually seen him in a straight role yet)

I can't stand the guy and refuse to watch anything with him in it, hence the reason I've never seen Inception, Shutter Island, The Departed or The Aviator, all good films I'm told but I just can't sit through anything starring him

pedromonkey 13th April 2012 03:19 PM

I was sceptical at first about both Leo and Jamie Foxx but after reading the script i could totally picture both guys in those roles.

I wasn't keen on him before but then I watched his performance in What's Eating Gilbert Grape and he blew me away so I have a new found respect for him as an actor. Watching the films you've just listed I realised just how good he really is.

I never said he was a bad actor, far from it, I just can't do with the guy. And yeah your right, his performance in What's Eating Gilbert Grape is fantastic

keirarts 13th April 2012 05:16 PM

As the film titanic is one of my pet hates, I harboured an intense loathing for di caprio... But after watching Aviator, shutter island and inception I find myself appreciating him more. (still hate titanic though) I'd have watched shutter island regardless because its a scorsese movie (and it massivly references the RKO Val lewton pics in a similar way cape fear referenced bava)

Bringer Of Funerals 13th April 2012 06:28 PM

I like Leo's films after Titanic but as he's got older he's been picking decent roles. As for Django I want a full on Spag Western

Paul@TheOverlook 14th April 2012 01:45 AM

I think DiCaprio has been consistently excellent throughout his career, even if some of his choices haven't been the greatest showcases for his talent. You only have to see the likes of This Boy's Life or What's Eating Gilbert Grape to see that even as a teenager he was an exceptional actor.

Deathproof aside, I've loved all of Tarantino's films and am very much looking forward to seeing his take on Django.

Yeah, I loved What's Eating Gilbert Grape. I also absolutely loved Inception and Blood Diamond. Ohh and I LOVE Deathproof, It's in my opinion, One of Tarantino's best! Infact, In his top 3!

Just goes to show, Everyone has their own opinions.

InDogWeTrust 26th April 2012 01:16 PM

Oop, We have some photo's of the film in the works.

Christoph Waltz behind the scenes;

Chrisoph and Jamie Foxx;

Leo and a hammer;

I don't know why but for some reason to me, It feels a little like Tombstone with Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer.

Paul@TheOverlook 26th April 2012 03:00 PM

Those pics look great! I predict a rather icky demise of a supporting character at that hands of little Leo and that hammer. :D

It should be good, but after Death Proof I'm a little wary of QT. I thought it was boring drivel. Too much waffling and I got bored real quick.

I doubt this will be a 'proper' Western as such, which is no bad thing. I'm hoping it'll be successful and spawn a whole new cycle of Westerns.

The synopsis sounds a bit...I dunno...silly. But let's see how it turns out on the screen.

I'm still waiting for QT to tackle the horror genre. He loves it, so I wonder why he's never dipped into it. I don't count From Dusk Till Dawn, as that's more Rodriguez's baby.

As for Di Caprio - I refer you to the Basketball Diaries, he's brilliant in that. So yes, Titanic aside, I think he's pretty decent as an actor.

The ONLY film he's good in, imo.

I agree about Death Proof being the weak link in QT's ouvre. I really didnt think mych of it the first time I saw it but it's a grower. I watched it again tonight and actually quite like it now. It doesn't hold a candle to any of his other film but I think once you accept its faults and limitations it's quite an enjoyable film once it gets going. And boy does it take it's time! The shorter, Grindhouse version is definitely an improvement.

DiCaprio's made loads of good films and he's great in many of those. There I said it, call me a nancy boy!

All of LD's films with Scorsese are good. Inception is great too.

I have a friend called Mathew who when he was at Butlins a friend called Tara put him up for a few weeks and she kicked him out over something. So he didn't go out with her its just a friend. So now when the name Tarantino turns up he's either deleting posts or sending messages out saying can you either put Quentin or QT.

I think he needs to get a life because he sent me this

sorry I cant take the T word makes me physically vomit, extreme i know but very much true please put Quentin or QT like in our txts, honestly im not lying I black marker penned his name off my dvds so i didnt have to look at it!, please post your pic again under QT ta sorry i had to delete it

That's odd. Where exactly is this Matthew deleting posts? And what connection is there between Tara and the name Tarantino making him vomit?

I don't mean to be too inquisitive, but your post is a bit random and doesn't make a whole lot of sense!

Bringer Of Funerals 2nd May 2012 11:22 AM

He added me on a film website on Facebook where we could post anything about films yet when I mention anything to do with TARAntino he goes mental.

What happened was when he was at Butlins she put him up for a few nights just before he started there as he was down there before the job started. And for some reason she kicked him out as a big argument and now he claims because of that she fu#ked up his life and they'll never be friends. So now when the lot post anything on Tarantino Mathew is saying can you write Quentin or QT. Because Tarantino has the name TARA in it

Then this morning he sent me that message, I added Stephen@Cult to it so even stephen knows what he's like.

Paul@TheOverlook 2nd May 2012 01:32 PM

Sorry to make light of it but that's hilarious!

[Digs out the Roxy Music album to have a listen to the final track, 'Tara']

It's like a swear filter obstructing the use of Scunthorpe because there's a naughty word in its midst. Truly bizarre behaviour to say the least.

Or Matsushita!

Talking of swear filters. One site I went on years ago had an hilarious way of doing it by exchanging the swear word for something inoffensive. Whore thus became 'friendly woman', f*ck became 'intercourse', c*nt became 'woman bits' and so on.

It was funny as intercourse.

And let's not even get started on the Pornolyzer... :pound:

kevxxx1 2nd May 2012 03:46 PM

So, if I had a falling out with someone named Jack, I could no longer watch a film with Samuel Jackson because his name contains 'Jack'.
I think your friend needs help.

PaulD 2nd May 2012 03:49 PM

Yeah, what an odd individual. I think you should get rid of him BoF. Next time you see him tell him you can't be friends with him, then walk away while waving your hand and saying "ta-ra!". That'll learn him!

kevxxx1 2nd May 2012 03:56 PM

If you do fall out with him, he would then no longer bear anyone with 'bringer of funerals' in their name :)

Nordicdusk 2nd May 2012 04:10 PM

Bit odd alright gotta say i was confused as hell when i saw the post first i was thinking whats this gotta do with anything.

But to show his craziness is not just down to him a mate of mine years ago was going out with an air hostess when they broke up he went crazy playing airport manager games on his pc. Maybe he taught if he was a good airport manager she would come back to him

Sorry for going off topic here but i just had to add that.

Bringer Of Funerals 2nd May 2012 04:12 PM

Yeah Kev you've got the idea of what i was trying to say - he needs to move on and get a life lol. Ive seriously considered parting ways a few times - ive done a blog on him ages ago

The LimelightMovie 3rd May 2012 09:02 AM

That's some line up and Tarantino will have every detail of Spaghetti Western style down to a tee.Hope it's as good as we hope.I was a bit disappointed in Inglorious.

Yeah. I'm sure that would happen often. Or not.

Kurt Russell and Sacha Baron Cohen are out apparently. Russell's role has been integrated into an existing character
