Dear god!

If Kurt Russell is out, I'm out.

Well, He was the only thing I had high hopes for in this film. I hope he at least pulled out 'cause he knows it's going to be a load of shit.

Bringer Of Funerals 11th May 2012 08:52 AM

How do we know its going to be a load of shit - it might be the best film since sliced bread

Sliced Bread was a crap film!

Paul@TheOverlook 11th May 2012 11:47 AM

I love Kurt Russell but him not being in this isn't reason enough to avoid it for me. I'm still REALLY looking forward to it.

As an aside, wasn't Russell brought into to fill the told originally intended for Kevin Costner (who declined because of a scheduling clash with Man of Steel). What's odd is QT was quite outspoken in the press about his disliking for the actor 10-15 years ago when Costner started seeing the director's then-squeeze, Mira Sorvino.

i liked the sequel better - Sliced Bread with Jam

I preferred the prequel, One Million Years BB (Before Bread).

Bringer Of Funerals 11th May 2012 01:20 PM

thats meant to be good the prequel film

I know it's not the popular choice but part 3 Sliced Bread with Cheese - Breville goes Berserk is one of the most underrated films of all time. Django Unchained has to compete with that in my eyes

PaulD 11th May 2012 09:18 PM

I wasn't too keen on the "Sliced Bread" remake - " Burnt Toast". Too dark for my liking.

Re: Django Unchained - I still think it's odd to hope it's a bad film. Bad films are made every day so it seems strange to want to will another one into existence, especially one made by Quentin Tarantino

InDogWeTrust 12th May 2012 02:44 AM

I'm kind of craving cheese on toast now.

Guess what men and ladies... We have a trailer!

It actually doesn't look THAT bad. Might be a decent watch.

That trailer sold the film to me. Looks awsome!

Slippery Jack 7th June 2012 08:31 AM

Love the retro exploitation camera zoom to introduce DiCaprio

...and Nero at the end  . . .

"Django, the D is silent"......for the numptys in the audience!

Paul@TheOverlook 7th June 2012 08:59 AM

Looks great. Shame it doesn't look like James Remar is going to have much screen time. Nice to see Franco Nero in the trailer though and that his cameo is an in-joke.

I thought the same, oooo James Remar, then, bang! gone.

Paul@TheOverlook 7th June 2012 09:12 AM

You gotta love Ajax.

I saw him once, in the flesh when I was a teenager, was awestruck and couldn't speak to him! :D

Yep, Remar's been in the business for years but he'll always be best remembered both by me and probably every other veteran film fan going as tough talkin' Ajax in The Warriors. The gang member behind possibly the majority of the film's most quotable dialogue and use of the term 'Wimp'!:)

"I told ya they're a buncha wimps!"

Apparently, the US premier for this has been pulled because of the hideous events that have recently taken place at Sandy Hook in Connecticut

Why? Did Django do it, then?

Some tired hack will try and establish a connection i'm sure. GRINDHOUSE came out right around the time of virginia tech and was probably a factor in its box office failiure. Of course no one will want to blame easy availabilty of guns, in spite of a similar incident that happened in china where the killer had a knife and all the kids survived.

Read the Django Unchained review last night in Empire and they said it's a good film with 2 problems. They are Jaime Foxx is wrong for the role of Django and doesn't sound right and his lines are spoken too soft which jars against the role he's playing and the threats he makes fall apart as he says them too soft .

The 2nd thing is the story is too short for the running time of 3 hrs and it could have been told in 2 hrs

For anyone interested to hear QT commentary before each track of the soundtrack.

I loved it and can't wait to see it again but I agree they could've cast better than Foxx - Terrence Howard for instance.

Christoph Waltz is an amazingly captivating actor. Carnage is one to check out for his performance alone.

Demdike@Cult Labs 10th February 2013 08:47 PM

Nice to see Tarantino and Christoph Waltz picking up Bafta's tonight.

Together with Skyfall's win for best British film it goes to show at least one awards panel has some idea what the public like.

Stephen@Cult Labs 10th February 2013 09:07 PM

Best screenplay? Jesus, the others must've been REALLY shit then!

Best Original Screenplay, a category which these days has fewer and fewer relevant entries

Cue "Tarantino and original in the same sentence?" gag...

Demdike@Cult Labs 10th February 2013 10:45 PM

No matter what comes from the keyboards of naysayers, surely its better that something gets recognition that is of interest to some Cult Labbers than the usual po-faced award winners.

DJANGO UNCHAINED | British Board of Film Classification

I don't remember it being particulary graphic in the violence  there was that scene with the dogs, but anything shown was very brief . . .

EDIT: for some reason I thought I read 'for graphic violence' in the above post  . . .
