I think that might be pushing it a bit, Reaps. Or are you on about the synchronised nude swimming? 'Come on in, it's just like chicken soup!'

A few of my favourites are Rollerball (original), The Karate Kid (again, original), Verne Gagne's The Wrestler (1974) and last but not least, the mighty Gymkata.

I have just remembered a favourite from my childhood, Animalympics. I'm sure that there are other members on here who have fond memories of this and it has a soundtrack by Graham Gouldman from 10cc to top it off.

As a consqeuence, I tend to avoid sports themed movies as I know they'll bore me. But ones that I have liked are Field of Dreams, Death Race 2000 (well it's racing, which is a sport, isn't it?), The Last Boy Scout.
I'm the same when it comes to Sport although i don't mind the odd spot of it now and then if there's absolutely nothing else to do. I enjoy the above movies too and you can add Stephen Chow's early '90s Snooker outing Legend Of The Dragon to the list starring none other than Jimmy 'Whirlwind' White!

Don't forget Sports-themed slashers I Know How Many Runs You Scored Last Summer and Graduation Day too. Also, Born To Fight which may not be actually about Sport but does feature a cast of real-life Thai Sports exponents.

How about Surviving The Game and Predator too then?

The Ringer was in poor taste, but I found it funny in a perverse kind of way. It's about a guy pretending to be disabled so he can enter the Paralympics. Like I say, in very bad taste, but they just about pulled it off. Just. Not one I'd watch again though.

The Set-Up

In fact, boxing is by far the sport best served by cinema.

Someone needs to release Michael Winner's Olympics-based drama THE GAMES. I'm pretty sure that it's a Fox title but at least it's a company that allows its films to be licenced out to other companies.
