1982 was a year for some brilliant horror films, but which one is your favourite? What makes it special to you? When did you first see it? Would you recommend it to the uninitiated? Sometimes it's a hard decision to just pick one film (even when you're limiting it to a single year!), but my favourite film of 1982 is... Tenebrae - Dario Argento My favourite giallo of all time, and one of my favourite horror films, there isn't much I don't like about Tenebrae. From the score, to the cinematography, the bizarre twist, and some of the most iconic death scenes to ever be committed to celluloid. Narrowly losing out to Tenebrae was The Thing, which is probably most people's choice for '82, and is another master blend of sci-fi and horror, which many people regard as Carpenter's best film to date (I'm an Assault on Precinct 13 man, myself ). Runners Up: Basket Case Creepshow The Entity Halloween III: Season of the Witch The Living Dead Girl The New York Ripper Pieces Poltergeist Q: The Winged Serpent The Thing

As much as I love Tenebrae, Creepshow, Basket Case and Q: The Winged Serpent, I don't think you can beat John Carpenter's claustrophobic and paranoia-fuelled horror. It's one of the few remakes that are at least equal to the original, with terrific creature effects by Rob Bottin (with uncredited work by the late, great Stan Winston) and taut direction by Carpenter. The Thing is a great movie and one that has aged extremely well.

Yep, it's The Thing for me too.In my all-time favourite horror movie top ten, The Thing would be at number one.I've also got a bit of a soft spot for the entertaining, Superstition (aka The Witch)

They don't make 'em like they did in '82 anymore. Not sure if The Evil Dead should be here or in '81,but nobody saw it before '82 under that name at least,so my pick is Raimi's cult fave.It started my whole obsession with horror movies (alongside Hooper's TCSM) and I still watch it every year.First there was some pirated 6th generation copy or something, but now I have Evil Dead DVD's and BD's all over the place. Then there's Carpenter's The Thing, another great one and the best film of he's career,me thinks.Tenebrae,The New York Ripper,Creepshow...it goes on and on.

Some good films mentioned here. THE HOUSE WHERE EVIL DWELLS is good fun,it's got Susan George after all! ![]() HALLOWEEN III is a class act,as is THE THING....but my favourite grundgy low budget shlock from this year has to be Henenlotter's BASKET CASE.
