This is a common problem, but in this case all four "reviews" are indeed of the BFI edition - although all written by people who cannot possibly have seen it, and who might not even have seen the version of the film that's included.

In fact, one person complains that it's not the version that was shown on BBC2... although it is!

Michael, reading this article that you wrote for the BFI what were the other (now presumed destroyed) cuts of 89 seconds that were removed by the censor?
Whole scenes or just bits chopped off existing sequences?

I've been reading on other sites how some are not going to pick this up until Warners release this with the Rape of Christ etc. re-inserted, judging by what the BFI say they are going to be in for one long wait...but of course that's their choice

I remember watching it on television as a kid (I'm 32) and it contained the nuns orgy scene.... is this the scene that everyone is saying was never in the film? If so I'm a tad confused...

Everyone should buy the Devils DVD, even if they weren't going to due to the cut or the format, in honour of Ken's legacy. Let's show how important his work was, and that there will always be a market for it - let's help get the film in the charts. God bless you, Ken.

Perhaps as Dae said,Warner will now unleash the whole 9 yards to the BFI as a tribute to Ken.....

One can only hope.

Indeed, maybe this is the kick up the backside Warner Brothers need to finally treat The Devils like just about every film in their collection and give someone the opportunity to release it in the form Ken Russell wanted and in HD.
