I bought the unofficial release of THE DEVILS last year and with a doc as well the film was uncut with a different aspect ratio for the rape of the christ scene

If someone ever released the film in the UK now, it would not have any trouble at all - so when??

I have the R0 Anchor Bay dvd of CRIMES OF PASSION w/extras

Bought UKR2 LISZTOMANIA a few months ago, typical Ken Russell!

From what I understand going by what Mark Kermode and Nigel Floyd have said, it won't be released in the UK for some time because the studio don't like the film and don't want to distribute it anywhere, let alone the UK. This is a real shame as Kermode and Floyd spent years making a director's cut along with Ken Russell and have made a documentary about the film.

It is one of those films that I really want to see and so am quite saddened that Warner Brothers have chosen to cut off their nose to spite their face really just because the executives don't like Russell's film.

Default The Devils (1971)

A big shame and whats more its ****ing stupid!
Some studios are run by a bunch of greedy bastards who don't care about the real fans of certain films
Give them teen films/family firiendly crap and their happy
Besides there have been many older films given the deluxe treatment on dvd, so why not Russells film?
THE DEVILS is a classic and as I said before it should have no problems with the BBFC, but Warner etc are arseholes

I'm presuming that one is English friendly but is it the director's cut?

Sounds like a very tempting purchase -- where did you buy it from?

Bought and paid for! I hope that all the positive things I've heard about this film are true.

Default KEN RUSSEL'S THE DEVILS

The full uncut version of this film should be released in the uk, it has only been available on vhs. I don't understand why it hasen't been given a dvd or blu-ray release since it's regarded as a classic film?
