Question Your Favourite Horror Film from 2000

Well, I can't even adhere to my copy and paste thread intro for 2000, as it was an abysmal year for horror. Sequels, remakes, straight to video affairs; not much stands out amongst the acres of forgettable fodder.

However, a film I must pick, so my vote goes to...

Uzumaki - Akihiro Higuchi

A pretty bizarre film full of possession and spirals; definitely one of the better J-Horror efforts, with a hint of dark comedy thrown in for good measure. Uzumaki is easily the best film of 2000, for me.

Trailer:

Runners Up:
Anatomy
The Cell
Final Destination
Ginger Snaps
Shadow of the Vampire
Versus
What Lies Beneath

Liking the token ginger nut/snap image

Ginger Snaps or What Lies Beneath probably would of been my next choice.

I just know that some of these 2000 (and 1990) years are going to have very slim pickings...

2000 had some very worthwhile movies.

along with others already mentioned, Hellraiser: Inferno, Ju-On and Ju-On 2, Blood: The Last Vampire, Ring 0, Shadow of the Vampire, Ángel negro.

My top 3 would probably be Ginger Snaps, Uzumaki and Blood: The Last Vampire.

I completely overlooked Hellraiser: Inferno. One of the best (if not THE best) Hellraiser sequels after Hellbound, in my opinion.

I always thought Ju-On was released in 2002, though... with the shitty remake following in 2004.

Yeah, it's my third favourite one. I really want to pick up the forthcoming blu-ray, but the rest of the Echo Bridge blus are getting terrible reviews.

Ju-On The Grudge was 2002 but before that there were 2 TV movies (subtitled The Curse) in 2000 which IMO are superior to all the other entries. Although about 1/3 of the second one is reused footage from the first
Parts of which were recycled along with parts of The Grudge into the remake.

I'd heard the same. It's very unfortunate and a missed opportunity, for sure.

I never knew that... thanks for the info.
