I have the first five, but have only managed to reach no.3.
The first was a classic.Original in every sense.
The second was not bad.
The third was bollocks, and I felt that the only original thing about it was new ways in which to knock the cast off with Jigsaw's traps.
I take it the law of diminishing returns applies to IV and V?

I don't understand why so many people hate part III, part II is the worst installment IMO. Part III was just balls-to-the-wall horror, excessive in every sense; it's epic! Number IV was also good because of how they linked it into Part III - which is what they've done again in Part VI.

It's all one big crazy-ass story though, would like to see a version of the film played in chronological order once the franchise is dead to see how little sense it all makes! Ha.

I'm with you Philleh - I really liked Part III. It was nice and gory - especially the crucifix and the acid trap. Although I did think the piggy one was pretty stupid.

As for the worst one, IMO, that award goes to V. It was really quite bad - the 'twist' was nothing major AT ALL. In fact it wasn't really a twist. And it just wasnt gruesome or 'trappy' enough.

Cant wait for VI though - hopefully will be seeing it tonight! As for part VII and part VIII - mmm I wonder what direction they'll go if VI wraps it all up. Meh. It's just like the Friday 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street francise - one almost every year - and I LUV that! It's a shame there's no more franchises like that. I'd much prefer a sequel than some stupid remake.

Yeah, Part V feels like filler doesn't it? Which is why Part VI works so well I think, the film before set it all up so it can go all out. You'll enjoy it dude, I think we're in the same boat so If I dug it, I'm sure you will! ha.

Yeah, it really did feel like a filler Philleh, just to stretch it out to a six part francise (so much for that idea! - I wonder how many Saw's there will be?!)

Ah, great, look forward to seeing it mate.

Yeah, it's sole purpose was to establish Hoffman as the new Jigsaw - fill in his background etc. Which is fine, it helps; Part II had nothing of the sort! Ha. It was typical follow-up material.

I heard they've planned 9 - but only 8 have the greenlight I believe. I know the man who made Part V is taking the riegns again on Part VII (3D); which I feel is a msitake, the chap who made Part VI really has a feel for the material and injects a much needed pace into it - much like Part III had! Maybe he'll come back for VIII?

I thought 3 was the best with 5 the worst.

I always thought the original Saw film was overated and average, though I appreciate it's position in horror history. The sequels (most) are much better. Reminds me of the Friday 13th franchise actually. The original whilst being very influential was pants, the earlier sequels are much better paced and a lot more fun as a result.
