But seriously, the reasons you listed for liking it, are probably the reasons I don't like it... not a big fan of in-jokes in modern horror films - which is surprising as I love Troma and Family Guy... Plus I didn't think much of the cast or the dialogue; Michael Biehn was good though - the best thing about the film IMO.
fair enough, each to their own i guess, Michael Biehn kinda give a touch of something special in whatever he's in though.

Biehn was unforgettable in Planet Terror too.

Had a think.
THE DESCENT takes some beating I reckon.

I still want to see the full Grindhouse thing. I like Planet Terror, and Death Proof has its moments, but both could do with trimming (especially Death Proof). Is there any word about an upcoming release?

I felt there has been far too much 'torture p*rn' for my liking ... some of it I have found diplorable and unimaginative .. maybe I am getting old .. .or a little more demanding in my age!!

Anyways

Sleepless
Quarantine (never seen REC!)
Dawn of the Dead
Trick R Treat
Wolf Creek (a break out from the 'torture p*rn' slew)
Descent
Final Destination 2
Silent Hill
Oh and Hatchet! (fantastic!)

Not many I know, but I do have a soft spot for my retro movies ... it's what I grew up on!!!

In no particular order from what I've seen so far:

Cabin Fever
Blood Feast 2
Wild Zero
Versus
Battle Royale
Forklift Driver Klaus: First Day On The Job
Saw
Hostel
Beyond Re-Animator
Dagon
House of Wax (better than I expected)
Ginger Snaps 123
The Descent
Feed
Planet Terror
28 days later
The Cottage
Let the Right One In
Jeepers Creepers
House of 1000 Corpses
Devil's Rejects
The Manson Family
Slither
See no Evil
Abominable (strong version)
The Retreat
Creep
The Dark Hours
Dead End

and probably lots more I can't remember...
