Is there an official soundtrack release for Amer? There's music tracks in the film I've been trying to track down for years.

I don't think there is one,as there's not that much music in the film. Here's a listing from Imdb: "La coda dello scorpione - seq. 1" Written by Bruno Nicolai Published by Gemelli Edizioni Musicali "La polizia chiede aiuto" Written by Stelvio Cipriani Published by Bixio CEMSA "Un uomo si è dimesso" Written by Ennio Morricone Published by C.A.M. Srl "La polizia ha le mani legate" Written by Stelvio Cipriani Published by Cinevox Records/Grandi Firme della Canzone "La polizia sta a guardare" Written by Stelvio Cipriani Published by Bixio CEMSA "Furore" Written by Adriano Celentano, Ezio Leoni, Piero Vivarelli Published by Edizioni Musicali E.A.R. Sas I suspect all these can be found on other soundtrack cd's since they just re-used the music for this one? You could maybe ask in the soundtrack thread? |

Quote:
La coda dello scorpione - seq. 1 is obviously from the CASE OF THE SCORPION'S TAIL which has also been on CD for ages via Digitmovies. Furore I'm not so sure about. It had a release in 1961 from Jolly Hi-Fi Records though EDIT: Furore is available on CD on the Adriano Celentano compilation La Mia Storia vol 2, Amazon are also selling the track on it's own as an MP3 download.

What a frustrating piece of crap it was.Classic giallos actually had something happening in them, but by the time this one get's to an actual murder scene,it's waaaay too late.

I finally got to see this last week and found it fresh, unique and very different from my usual diet of movies, right up until the giallo inspired ending which felt like a cop out to me. I can sympathise and understand why it would frustrate and disappoint a great many people. So, the choice of soundtrack cuts makes it "The Kill-Bill of Giallo cinema"? What a misleading and inappropriate description. Is Amer really Giallo? I'd say that it's further away than Suspiria was. The last scenes echo the genre but precious little else appears to; but I hold my hands up to not being much of an expert, so please correct me if I'm wrong here. |

After I had seen Amer, I also found the comparison to Kill Bill to be a little misleading as this is a much more cerebral and slow burning film than Quentin Tarantino's homage to the kung fu films he grew up watching. I think it is a extremely accomplished exercise in filmmaking and a film I really need to watch again quite soon.
