From a 'girlie' point of view, the original is a great film. I am not offended by it in any way - quite the contrary. I think it is a very powerful, and believable, piece of female empowerment

The remake, however, is a standard piece of exploitation

I think these sort of films are products of their times and the culture and cinema that surrounds them and remaking them is an utterly pointless exercise. I thought the Last House remake was perfectly perfunctory, nothing more. Haven't seen the I Spit one yet though

Utterly pointless, but I'll still check it out no doubt

It seems that back in January, there was a showing on the Horror Channel of the 'I Spit on Your Grave' remake which wasn't the BBFC approved version.

German website schnittberichte. com concludes that the Horror Channel did its own edit which, although cut, was stronger than the BBFC one:

Alsorts of reasons why i hate most remakes, original have some apeall and heart and soul into the film, even tho acting of isoyg is amongst some of the worst ever seen, most remakes offer nothing much but attention to the original to be noticed to people who aren't aware its a remake. Isoyg revenge is realistic eg pretending she forgave her attacker to have a bath with him, remake just offers nothing but ott torture porn. Souless film and souless characters and most remakes do that or give it the hollywood treatment that imo should be avoided. Wickerman a prime example.
Maniac is one of the few exceptions on how a remake should be made.
Cant think of many j horror remakes that have got good reviews from film fans but hey i might be wrong.
Im not talking about horrors just films in general.
