Charles Bronson without a doubt. I'll love him forever after watching Kinjite: Forbidden Subjects, when he got this child trafficker (Jaime fernandez) to SWALLOW his own gold rolex! lol... Somebody gave that film 1/2 a star out of 10 on IMDB lol! Aside from Charley, I like Chuck Norris. God awful actor but his films are entertaining enough and he provided the prototype for your Segal's and your Van Damme's. I think Tom Selleck plays a great action hero too, e.g. Magnum PI, Jesse Stone, An Innocent Man, and various Westerns he made through the 90's. Afterall he was supposed to play Indiana Jones but was stuck in his contract for Magnum PI so the role went to Harrison Ford (my other favourite action star). In fact Harrison Ford in Polanski's Frantic is one of the best performances and film I've seen. I think Val Kilmer is another decent action star too. |

Oh and if we're talking Hong Kong action stars... Jet Li (once upon a time in china), Sammo Hung (magnificent butcher), Jackie Chan (project A), Chow Yun Fat (hard boiled), Anthony Wong (beast cops). I'll throw in Roger Moore & Timothy Dalton (of Bond fame) and James Woods (Cop / The Hard Way) in too, for good measure. Theres too many awesome action stars out there! |

Sonny Chiba has got to be my favourite. Jackie Chan would have to be a close runner-up, with the likes of Clint Eastwood, Jean Claude Van Damme and Harrison Ford in the mix. Going back a little further in time you have the likes of Robert Mitchum, Burt Lancaster, Charlton Heston and Randolph Scott.
