I'm currently re-watching the Rambo franchise. I just finished Rambo: First Blood Part II... And to my immense surprise, found it better than the first one. Rambo III Next. Everyone seems to hate it but I can't remember much of it tbh, it was years ago since I saw it.

The first two films are very different pieces and I'd agree with you - I prefer the second. The first might be an excellent drama but the second is a ruthlessly lean action film. With Jack Cardiff as cinematographer and Sly moving fast in a series of great set pieces it's a good-looking confection.

III doesn't get much love but I have a soft spot for it - I saw it at the cinema so it's all tinged with nostalgia! The kid in it is well annoying - a horrible habit all action stars seem to feel the need to do - do a film with a kid trailing along. Again though it's got some incredible sequences - the stick fight is vicious and the horse sequence where they toss around an old sheep or something like that is thrilling to watch. There's a lot of skill on show in that film - the story though is less so and there's far too many shots of a modified helicopter that clearly the producers were rather chuffed with but somehow feels cheap.

Real hard action in both sequels though and reflective of an era before CGI when everything was done for real - be it actor or skilled stuntman - and that makes them worth a revisit.

Rambo 3 IS a bit of a joke,but a thoroughly entertaining one!

I too saw it at the cinema,I also saw the second in the cinema.
On holiday with the olds.
In a cinema in Fife somewhere.
When cinemas let you in with the old boy and didn't question your age.

I was pleasantly surprised at RAMBO-It puts a nice end to the franchise.

When I saw the second Rambo at the cinema on it's release, the audience were cheering on each kill! Same with "Death Wish 3".
