Are there no vault materials that contain the proper end titles, then? That is to say, do all existing negatives and prints contain the freeze-frame ending? Or is the re-build culled from other sources? Just curious.

The Another World Entertainment DVD from a couple of years ago had the correct end credits and was a digital restoration from vault elements as far as I can remember.

Will Arrow marry me?

Ah, good stuff. The Arrow version should look stunning then. I was worried that there were no vault materials that retained the proper ending - good to know there are and I'm confident it will be a fantastic release. I really want this to be a great release, as it's hands down my favourite Argento - and I'm sure it will be. It's just that the words 're-building' had me a little concerned.

Any idea when the blu-ray will be up for pre-order at Amazon?

This is reviewed (strangely) in this months issue of Total Film (December), alongside Inferno. I don't know if I'm allowed to transcribe it, if not please feel free to delete this :P.

Quote:
Film: **** Extras: ****
These two gems from Italian Master Dario Argento are characteristically contrary - one's enchanting, the other infuriating. Starring Blow-Up's David Hemmings and all but retreading its plot, Deep Red is a spooky, Rome-set whodunit and one of Argento's best. Suspiria sequel Inferno, meanwhile, is harder to canonise - a WTF? baroque horror of dazzling set-pieces with dodgy joins. Inferno's 90 minutes-worth of featurettes, overshadow Red's less substantial haul, but both include posters, postcards and An Eye For Horror, an hour-long doc introducing the director's oeuvre in all its enchanting, infuriating glory.
Quite strange they reviewed them together, and also strange they have the package so early, I was under the impression those bods at Arrow were still beavering away on Deep Red.

The Deep Red review sounds a bit suspect to me.
