I hope that's the case, but for what it's worth the PHENOMENA check disc came in as a full BD50.

Kindest regards,

I would be surprised and disappointed if a release as significant as a world first on BD for The Beyond has been confined to a 25GB disc... The reportedly visible Edge Enhancement does not exactly fill me with confidence either.

im sure its 25gb cause its a review disc so maybe not everything is on the disc.
but more space wont mean less EE.

That is entirely possible. Thoughts on EE do tend to be subjective though. Until you see it for yourself, it is difficult to know either one way or another. BDs like Pulp Fiction and Zulu had obvious EE but it did not detract from the overall enjoyment of the disc (at least for me). Likewise the recent French release on BD of John Carpenter's Vampires had some EE at the beginning sequence but again not a show spoiler on a transfer that was otherwise really good.
Conversely you have the EE that was visible on the first BD release of Gladiator

All the supplemental content that was supposed to be on the disc was accounted for, including the featurette with Cinzia Monreale, Q&A session, easter egg and two commentary tracks. Same goes for the feature itself - three audio tracks (English 5.1, English, and Italian), two subtitle tracks.

As I said before, the PHENOMENA disc I received is a pre-production check disc as well, and is a BD50. That said, I HOPE this one is bumped to a BD50 when/if they redo the pre-credits sequence.

Kindest regards,

Kevin P.

Yeah, 10-13 Mbps seems really low when City was around 30...

Yup, with both a higher bitrate and sepia intro. Though if so, these inferior test discs have unfortunately resulted in some poor early reviews!

Just ran it through media info and the average video bitrate is 12.3 Mbps. Compare that to 31.3 Mbps for the upcoming PHENOMENA Blu-ray.

I hope the final release version is an improvement as well. I really, really hated giving this one a negative review, but I can only review what I have in hand so...

Kindest regards,

Kevin P.
