So here we are, on to the second review in my '30s/'40s retrospective and still no mention of Universal Studios!

Based on a short story by Richard Connell, which I'll freely confess to having never read, while on a boat trip through potentially dangerous waters, a group of friends including famous big game hunter Robert Rainsford (Joel McCrae) are busy discussing recent exploits

No retrospective of the classics of the '30's and '40's would be complete without a mention of Dwain Esper's 'Maniac'. Esper is a legend in what can be termed as the 'Educational' movie. The Golden Age Of Horror?

Welcome all to the blob's den. As i've mentioned before, I'm a huge fan of early talking horror, especially from the 1930's and 1940's. Yes, a lot of it is tame by anywhere near modern standards but these movies laid the ground for much of what was to come. You'll find the first ever official zombie movie, countless vampires, mad experiments, gothic tales and even some bona-fide pure exploitation.
