'Weird Night' began at 20:35 and continued for the following 11 hours. Yes - 11 straight hours of strange television documentaries, series episodes and films

Can you imagine having a single channel produce an evenings line-up like this nowadays?
I don't remember watching the weird night in full, but i remember watching Martin and The Grandmother.

February / March 1977, and the TVTimes promotes the UK television premier of the 1965 James Bond film 'Thunderball'

1961 - 63 years ago, and the proper Avengers are featured in the cover to the TVTimes

This was from the first series of the show, when it was a 'serious spy programme', and the main character was Dr David Keel (Ian Hendry), with John Steed being a shadowy person who was very much in the background

The episode being promoted here was episode 10 - 'Hunt The Man Down' - which is one of many that is currently missing from the archives

January / February 1983, and ITV started their 'breakfast television' programmes

A lot of the youngsters on the forum possibly cannot understand or accept the fact that 41 years ago, television used to start around 9:30am (with programmes for schools), and would then play through to around midnight, when it would close down for the night (after the National Anthem had been played of course!)

This is what was available for those who got up early and couldn't live without their daily fix of the idiot box
