Ah, April Fools Day!

Susan Foreman 1st April 2019 12:27 PM

"Much to the disappointment of many of our readers I'm sorry to have to tell you that the Arthur Askey Appreciation Society have refused us permission to print the full uncensored rapper-style lyrics of Arthur's Bee Song in our new issue, and they have also claimed our star giveaway of Tommy Gander's titfer for the Arthur Askey Museum* in Giggleswick (*OAPs get in free on Mondays). On top of that, our steamy Askey centrefold has come under fire from censorship watchdogs unhappy with where Arthur was hanging his titfer in the image.

We are now going to go with this alternative 100-pager instead"

You've possibly been duped by an April Fooler!
Edit:: Clearly I've still half asleep

The Ghost Train
was featured in a recent issue anyway. Good film.

"We have 100 pages of this sort of thing in our 200th issue. Even I am impressed with what our great designification expert Kevin has accomplished, and of course our superb writers. I think you are going to be seriously staggered with what we have crammed into this issue!"

The cover you won't be seeing!

"Just wrapping up Dark Side 202 and we have decided on a last minute change of cover. Our feature on Karl Freund was originally to have had Rick's depiction of Peter Lorre as Dr. Gogol in Freund's Mad Love but we were tempted to go with Karloff as The Mummy instead - that was Freund's only other movie as director"

Demdike@Cult Labs 24th June 2019 07:25 PM

That'll be two Karloff covers in a row.

Mad Love is an underappreciated classic, i would urge anyone who likes old films to see it, it's one of my favourite B+W films.

Boris Karloff is my favourite early movie star, so this is a win either way, but they should have a mad love cover just to get some interest going.

Still can't believe there's no U.k version available.

Somebody should sort that shit out pronto tonto.
