If I were Shameless I would choose the least expensive option when it comes to the packaging. Fancy packaging costs more money, and at the end of the day it is the films that we are all really bothered about. I would buy them if they came packaged in a bin bag to be truthful. Aye!

Aye! One of the ironies of genre releases on the DVD format is that many of our number would like super fancy limited edition steel tin packaging, documentary featurettes, excised footage from the hardcore Bulgarian super-8 version, and all the trimmings, and yet the size of the market is quite limited. That, in turn, means that potential sales are quite limited, and such titles are unlikely to be purchased by members of the general populace.

In an ideal world many more people would be interested in the kinds of films that we like, and the releases of such films would sell many more copies. But you have to look at DVD companies who have gone out of business whilst trying to go the extra mile (BCI Deimos, NoShame), and simple economics must be the foremost consideration.

The funny things is, whilst the majority of the film viewing public watch the kind of tedious mainstream Hollywood crap that would send most of us into a deep sleep, it is that same crap that sells in huge quantities. It is like I've always said: crap sells, whether you are talking about music, film, literature, TV, or indeed any other artform.

Why not play up the vinilla releases you get by being the first company to release them all vanilla as the selling point, in a plain vanilla, box, much like the Beatles White Album.
You could call it the Shameless limited edition vanilla collection, each set with a batch number to play on the limited count and bugger all else.
Less is more.
