I'm not so sure, Vin. I think the sadism of Hauer's character would still be problematic for the BBFC and that there is no rationale for his actions. I reckon if re-submitted now it would still get an 18 rating IMO. But what do I know? The BBFC are by and large something of a mystery to me.

It's definitely a fringe title. The (abysmal) remake suffered minor classification cuts for cinema, though the DVD was upgraded to 18 and uncut.

Sean Bean is no Rutger Hauer that's for sure but he could have been worse.....he could have been Jake Busey The Hitcher 2,now that was money well spent on my part
