It's surprising which films didn't make either list too. City Of The Living Dead, Last Cannibal World, Maniac, Zombie Holocaust, Mother's Day etc plus Texas Chainsaw Massacre of course.
Don't think there was anything left in "Maniac" and "Z Holocaust" to get banned. Cut to ribbons.

You know what Vince? I had to look up MY OWN articles on 'The Nasties' to check you were right about "The Evil Dead", I was sure you were mistaken.
But my own 'Nasties' section (with the final 39 list in it) backed you up.

And I wrote all that a good few years ago.
AND YET I also thought "The Evil Dead" was one of the 39! Even though I proved to myself years ago it was not.
Craaaaaaazy!

It seems well bedded 'Video Nasty' assumptions can even swamp facts you already know counter them.

It surprised me too. It seemed to be the 'face' of the video nasties for years (right up with Driller Killer, ZFE etc) and I was amazed to find it never made the final 39. Apparently it was removed from the original list in mid 1985 (together with Cannibal Terror and Inferno).

It's just bizarre to think that Blood Feast ended up an official nasty, yet The Evil Dead didn't. They were strange times indeed.

The best version of Absurd that I know is the Mya Communications one:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Horrible-DVD...1508861&sr=8-1

No idea if any German releases better it in terms of picture quality or extras or anything.

Wasn't the Tartan release of Blood Feast cut too, whereas The Evil Dead is widely released complete here?

The American release of Faces Of Death on Gorgon Video seems to be the definitive release. There's a Blu-Ray too!

Yep, due to a recent prosecution the eventual 2001 release of Blood Feast (on Tartan) was shorn of some of the whipping scene. Cuts waived for the Odeon DVD 4 years later and would probably pass as a 15 today.
