Yep, I love Once Upon A Time in America. I pretty much grew up with it, as my Sister use to rent it out all the time. (I've got her the DVD since.) As you can imagine, so much of it flew over my head as a kid!

Curiosity is defininetly getting the better of me!
In your initial post on this thread you said there was a 265 minute cut. Is this Italian release a 'somewhere in between' edit?

I watched the Italian blu ray,the extended version of this classic during the Bank holiday weekend.
A must for die hard fans of the film, without giving too much away, the extra scenes,I'd say blow the theory that it was all an opium-induced dream right out of the water.
Louise Fletcher even pops up in a scene in a graveyard!

Unfortunately, the spliced scenes are poor quality, which is a pity, because as far as my Italian goes, the card at the start reckons it has been given a 4k transfer.
(Stephen will translate that for me later.I thought 4K was a £4000 transfer!)

Admittedly,the film looks superb.

Probably my favourite film of all-time, I'll definitely have to track this down for a watch. De Niro and Woods were never better.

Bitter sweet and hauntingly beautiful in its own way. This is, without a doubt, Leone's masterwork IMO.

Damn! I knew nothing about this Italian extended version BD. The importance of forums well illustrated. Buying now.

All (but one) of the extra scenes are on youtube btw.

While admittedly one is a real eye opener. I'm not sure how I feel about them, maybe because I've literally grown up with the film, so I'm so use to the film/scenes flowing a certain way. - I'd happily watch the reportedly six hours of filmed footage if it ever turned up though!
