Thanks BE! ;)
Btw I had no trouble ordering Silver Saddle from Amazon.de (despite it being FSK18).

wtfFILM 14th January 2011 04:34 PM

I just received ROBINSON CRUSOE ON MARS from the Criterion Collection, and can definitely recommend it. I'm a sucker for crisp Techniscope photography and the transfer is practically flawless. Of course, it helps that I've loved the film since I was a kid...

This is a tricky one for me. I haven't seen it since I was a kid and used to love it but have no idea what I'd feel about it now. I really wish I could rent it first as it's not cheap but I can see myself diving in sometime in the future...

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 14th January 2011 05:50 PM

I love Performance -- it's a brilliant film and Nic Roeg is truly a great director.

I have just ordered it and I am holding you entirely responsible, B!

bdc 14th January 2011 07:14 PM

I'll have to check which version (filters) is the best to my liking, the regular one or the one in the bonus section of the disc...
Btw the cover is reversible (no FSK logo).

antmumford 14th January 2011 07:33 PM

Ponyo (2 disc dvd)
Spirited Away (2 disc dvd)
My Neighbours the Yamadas
Laputa: Castle In The Sky
Ponyo (Limited Edition Blu-ray)
Nausicaa (Blu-ray)

pedromonkey 14th January 2011 08:10 PM

I got them all online. Got Spirited Away and Ponyo dvd's at play.com but they weren't on a 2 for £10. Never saw anything like that on the site to be honest. Don't tell me I'm going to have to kick myself now?

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 14th January 2011 09:34 PM

This afternoon/evening I watched:
Circle of Pain
The Last Remake of Beau Geste
Shutter Island (BD)

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 14th January 2011 09:49 PM

I really enjoyed Shutter Island Nos,though it didn't take a genius to figure it out....

Thanks!

That's the 2-Disc Directors Cut from HMV

Watchmen: 2blu: Directors Cut (2009): BLU-RAY: hmv.com

PaulD 14th January 2011 10:28 PM

Ahh. I'm really after the Ultimate Cut on Bluray but it's OOP and going for silly money on eBay. Might have to settle for it on dvd

Eurosleaze 14th January 2011 10:45 PM

The 3-disc edition of The Last House on the Left is four quid at Amazon. At HMV in Manchester's Trafford Centre I saw it being sold for twenty. ;)

I really like that Cannibal Holocaust artwork - very retro. :)

Just received the 25th Anniversary Edition of Cannibal Holocaust... what a gorgeous package! One of the discs had come loose but no scratches thankfully! Very impressed with it!

Also the Arrow Caligula Blu (a steal at £9.99) came which completes the Arrow collection thus far... can't wait to watch it!

Also, Friday 13th Part 5... which is random because I ordered parts 2 - 8 and they were all dispatched on the same day yet only one arrived, I love play.com!

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 15th January 2011 08:56 AM

I watched both Delicatessen and Mulholland Drive yesterday, and can say that both had excellent HD transfers.

The DTS HD Master audio on Mulholland Drive was incredible; particularly during the famous 'Silencio' scenes. I was also surprised at the amount of grain visible in some of the scenes in Delicatessen, but it didn't dirtract, and added to the mood and style of the film perfectly.

I love both these films, and they are both essential Blu-Ray pick-ups in my opinion.

you string me along for a month to hold something for you, then say you can't afford it but get this lot. You need to get your priorities in order. Don't reserve something, ask to hold it for a month then say you can't afford it because you bought this lot it's bad practice, not on really is it.

good to hear Mullholand has a good transfer!
I not seen it yet so will wait for price drop.

I think Mark Kermode said something along the lines of 'if the ending to you by surprisethen you really weren't trying'. I went with my family and was amazed that I was the only one who had pretty much everything figured out by the halfway mark. Anyway, it really does hold up to repeated viewings as I've seen it three times now and it's good to see how the little clues are there all the way through a bit like The Usual Suspects or The Sixth Sense.

The sixth sense was dead easy to figure out ....
Havent seen Shutter Island yet,

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 15th January 2011 01:23 PM

I've told most of several times not to buy any more discs until I have made a serious dent in the pile of unwatched discs but I went on a spending spree this morning and bought:

The Orphan
Shaolin Soccer
Natural Born Killers
Near Dark
Gremlins
Vengeance Is Mine
The World
The Fantastic Planet (Le Planete Sauvage)

All on Blu-Ray.

Amertume 15th January 2011 01:43 PM

bizarre eye:
sounds great! I've definitely been meaning to order those, so next time I get money I prolly will ;)

the blob:
what edition of BU's BWTCP did you buy? BD or DVD? :)

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 15th January 2011 01:52 PM

Got season 2 and 3 of X men cartoon.

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 15th January 2011 01:57 PM

I ordered those from Zavvi using a 10% off voucher thanks to Walkers which meant that the Masters of Cinema ones only cost me £13.00 and then there is Quidco to consider...

bdc 15th January 2011 03:01 PM

Just got this one (normally I hardly buy "new films" but this one is the first film from Belgian production company MAZEfilms so I wanted to support them)...I haven't seen it yet but I've read some interesting reviews.

Cornered! (2009) (RB?,MAZEfilms) Blu-ray

I bought the BD. It seems to be starting to disappear now as well so worth grabbing soon if you want a copy. :)
