Alien 2 - quite tedious until they get to the cave, then it picks up, more graphic than I remember it being although I haven't seen it for about 20 years or so. The blu ray looks nothing short of stunning.

There's also a Mafia Kingpin Collection from the same label...
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mafia-Kingpi...2665520&sr=8-1

pedromonkey 18th December 2010 04:52 PM

oh it obviously wont compare, but at the price they are for the films they contain i thought they were a steal especially the Vigilante collection which i mainly got for Keoma, so the others i'll look at as bonus features, plus i can't really afford the BU editions.

bit of a stallone theme going on there AF, Rocky is awesome and yes the Barebones dvd sucks. did you get the definitive release?
Escape to Victory is a great fun and Quick and The Dead is the only film i can tolerate Russell Crowe in....Sharon Stone looks good as a cowgirl though,,,

Good choices dude...

Argentofan 18th December 2010 05:34 PM

I've been getting quite a few stallone DVDs recently, used to watch loads of his films years ago but I've never owned them on DVD so :D
Yep I got the definitive edition, for £1!

bdc 18th December 2010 07:09 PM

Viva Maria! That's an unusual revolutionary western! ;)
And Nighthawks! One of the first films I ever rented on vhs!

Argentofan 18th December 2010 07:12 PM

It's also very good, as is Nighthawks ;)

Just got Blade Of The Ripper on amazon too, couldn't wait for the Shameless release next year ;)

Vampix 18th December 2010 07:46 PM

A mate at work bought me the SE DVD of 10 Rillington Place as a Christmas gift.Looking forward to watching this again.I haven't seen the film in years.I bought him the 2-DVD set of all three On The Buses movies. :)

the blob 18th December 2010 10:19 PM

I've got that release also, great film. It's got both versions on it too.

bdc 20th December 2010 07:06 PM

Just arrived... ;)

Alien 2: On Earth (1980) (Region Free,Midnight Legacy) Blu-ray

http://dv1.us/p1/590/155590-d1.jpg

Eurosleaze 21st December 2010 02:12 PM

Bought the following…
  • Great White
  • Mannaja
  • The Naples Connection (also known as The Smuggler or Contraband) - I've seen this before and really like it.
  • Satan's Sadists
  • The Sinful Dwarf (2 disc set)
  • Vigilante
  • Violence in a Women's Prison
…from Boostep.eu for £42.61 delivered. All anamorphic as far as I know and all from the Another World Entertainment distribution label. You have to be careful as if there is no English audio it's almost guaranteed not to have any subtitles, I'm presuming, due to rights issues. :)

Giallo (Argento) ... at last! before it vanishes!! Don't you just hate CD WOW vaccuum seal packaging? How does that possibly protect a film in transit?!

Siege Of The Dead

Argentofan 21st December 2010 05:52 PM

Lucky you got that Giallo Sarg. I'm just going to wait for the UK release. Hope it still comes out.

Argentofan 21st December 2010 05:57 PM

Yeah it's up on Amazon too, but I can see it being dropped or not released. If that happens I'll probably get the thai dvd.

Great stuff, shame Fulci only made one Italian crime film.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 21st December 2010 08:29 PM

Recent BD watches include;

KNIGHT AND DAY-Not bad,nothing brilliant.

SALT-Excellent I thought.Jolie makes for one hell of a sexy ass-kicking spy!

BATTLE ROYALE DIR CUT-Mad as a hatter, always gonna be a classic.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 21st December 2010 08:34 PM

Yeah,I really enjoyed Contraband as well.

Recent arrivals;
SPACED OUT/SEX CLINIC
GOODBYE GEMINI
SILENT SCREAM

I've quite a few on order to tide me over during the hols, but with this friggin' weather, they're taking ages to get here....:mmph:

bdc 21st December 2010 09:04 PM

Is Gemini the Scorpion or Odeon dvd Reaps?
Planning on getting that as well... ;)

BioZombie 21st December 2010 09:48 PM

Found a Redemption copy of Frightmare in Oxfam today for £1.99. It's the first DVD I've bought in ages.

Just about to watch it now.

bruty 21st December 2010 10:11 PM

Not exactly bought, but rented Black Water from Blockbuster. Some cheesy, crappy, cliched, predictable Aussie croc horror!!

Absolute shite!!

mazon2709 22nd December 2010 11:25 AM

I thought Knight and Day and Salt were :censored: awful. Blockbuster films this year were thin on the ground......

oaxaca 22nd December 2010 11:30 AM

Just had THE OMEN and PSYCHO (50th anniversary steelbook) posted through the door! fantastic! :D

Inception was brilliant Imo.
Salt looked so bad that I did not bother seeing it, same with Night and Day.

Ditto.

Kick-Ass and Iron Man 2 were very disappointing too.

I'm not really fussed about even seeing 99% of new movies though - especially Hollywood Blockbu$ter$. Rather see a nice remastering of a great gialli or euro-horror than watch the latest CGI infested garbage anyday.

I do love good hollywood blockbusters but there aint many. I would rather watch a horror though anyday

This year my top 3 non horror movies are Inception, Black Swan and Social Network.

Sargento 22nd December 2010 02:59 PM

oooh Bruty! Such language! Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?!

Some Hollywood Blockbusters are good, it's just that not many recent ones are, unfortunately... :(

Really want to see Black Swan, too.

J.R. 22nd December 2010 06:12 PM

I recently picked up Humanoids from the Deep and I can thoroughly recommend it, along with Living Dead at Manchester Morgue which was bloody brilliant.

J.R. 22nd December 2010 06:27 PM

I just got Tomorrow When The War Began and A Team yesterday, and am hoping for Solomon Kane today.

Would rather be there than here - had to stay in at Emma's all day cos her boilers knackered and an engineer was meant to be coming out. Not shown as yet, so been freezing all day - had to put kids down in front of electric fire in lounge!!

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 22nd December 2010 07:00 PM

I think the last DVD/BD I bought was Santa's Slay but I can really see myself splashing out in the Christmas sales when all of the 3 for 2 and BOGOF deals begin.

nekromantik 23rd December 2010 12:18 PM

I just bought Piranha 3D blu :)

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 23rd December 2010 12:52 PM
