Finally got round to getting BLADE RUNNER on BD :D I can retire my long-serving DVD now! Interested to see how much of a PQ improvement there is. This is one film that is all about the visuals! :pop2:

Thanks I know, but I'm only picking the box set up as it's cheap (£3), the thing is that means I'm gonna have Children of the living dead in my collection. :o

This little horde raises 2 questions. 1. I need to get out more. and 2. How to explain this to the other half?

Answer to #1 is: Do I really? Seriously, at least I have something physical for my hard earned cash.

Answer to #2 is: Cult-Labs Forums made me do it.

R2 Odeon DVD of Just Before Dawn arrived.

It turned out to be new and sealed when I was expecting second hand, which was good.

But the picture quality is abysmal! Even worse then the Shriek Show one I used to have.

Still, it has more footage, somewhere under the print damage...and I am glad to have a copy again.

PLEASE SOMEONE RELEASE A DECENT VERSION OF THIS FILM!!!

Upgrading some of my favourite movies to Blu-ray (Night of the Living Dead and Psycho), completing my Arrow Blu-ray collection (Battle Royale), and checking out what 2011's version of Hammer looks like (The Resident).

Greetings!

:puke:

It was £3.50 - I hate my addiction to 80's horror sometimes, I feel dirty having Children of the Living Dead in my collection, might have to bin it after I see how bad Howling III is.

Also picked up Fatal flying Guillotine , again curiosity got the better of me.

(I traded in Saints Row 2 anyway and also got Fable II for an extra £1.50.)

^Love that Psycho cover Prince!

Well, I just love Vincent Price. This is maybe my favourite flick of his.

Me too. It's really eye-catching. I'm actually thinking of printing it on thin glossy paper and using it as my Blu-ray's cover.

Greetings!

Haha! I have that double disk. Got it for 99p in a charity shop as I used to have a bit of a crush on Imogen Annesley who is in Howling III.

I get a bit of a glum shiver whenever I see the spine remind me that I own Children Of The Living Dead...

Yea the one I got is a "GREAT VALUE 4 DVD MOVIES"
box set with 2 "DOUBLE DVD COLLECTION" discs inside.

Children & Howling 3

&

The Unseen* & I've been watching you.

* What I bought it for. At least The Unseen is the main image on the DVD cover. Small mercies :D

oaxaca 13th July 2011 02:44 PM

Umm not exactly horror but I picked up Optimum's release of MERRY CHRISTMAS MR. LAWRENCE for £1.50 from cex. A very decent price I think :D Funny I saw it as I only just watched BRIDGE OVER THE RIVER KWAI the other day and the two films have the same Japanese POW camp scenario. Life is full of coincidences :p

Their prices are all over the place, how can COBRA (£3.50) be worth more than ALIEN? (£1)

platostotal 13th July 2011 02:49 PM

Bought this Blu set from Cash Genny, no slip-case and slight rip at the top for the price of... £9.99. All films seem to play ok, at £2.50 a film I,m in Rambo heaven. Now where's my head-band and huge bare chest, ahh it seems to have slipped down to my stomach:lol::lol:

PS. PQ seems good so far, but Rambo III has a DNR look to it i.e. bit of a smoothy.

My best bargain there was probably Optimum's SOUTHERN COMFORT for 50p :p

You *bleep*, I would have loved to find that. :tongue1:

Really need to do an on-line order with them someday, as there's bargains scattered throughout their stores up and down the country.

I saw Strangers on a Train for a £1 as well this week. :(

Makes me wish I didn't own it already, just like the time I saw Zombie Holocaust for 10p

Picked up a couple of Shameless in HMV for £6/7 each, the collection is growing. By the way these were in their 'Horror' section, in the normal film section they're £15 each!!!

Before I went HD, my brother connected his Xbox with the Blade Runner HD DVD playing to my plasma screen and I put the DVD on, both playing at the same time. Flicking between the two, I couldn't believe the difference as I thought the DVD from the (then) new tin was superb quality.

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 13th July 2011 04:29 PM

My Blue Underground BD of City of the Living Dead arrived this afternoon and I'd love to find time to do a back to back viewing with the Arrow Video one just for comparison's sake!

The American release -- the dual format one -- is region free. I haven't watched it yet so can't comment on the AV quality or extra features.

I think it may be a Dutch release....

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 13th July 2011 06:24 PM

I've just ordered Raging Bull: 30th Anniversary Edition and The Great Dictator BDs for 10% less than they were thanks to Baseball Fury.

You need to reserve that Black Cat cover ASAP! :p

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 13th July 2011 06:28 PM

I've just ordered the Raging Bull: 30th Anniversary Edition and The Great Dictator BDs. I was unsure whether that version of Raging Bull would be the same as the original release, so I contacted Zavvi and they sent me a list of the extra features which are identical.

Phantom of the Death sounds interesting. Especially the great cast is very tempting.

Director or Dictator Nos?

Is it the latest UK version with the almost identical cover to the last release?

The Great Dictator -- the Chaplin satire!

In terms of Raging Bull, it is the new UK release with a different 'Jake LaMotta' on the cover, where he's slightly older and fatter than the original release.

I'm still waiting for my copy of Devil Times Five to arrive -- it's been a while as I bought it on July 2.

I bought it from eBay, so it depends on how the seller mailed it.
