However, they've also backed us into a corner, they know we want it :(

Yes, Deep Red was £16.99 from HMV, only slightly less than Arrow direct so I don't understand why Phenomena, a very similar package was nearly a tenner more only 18 months or so later.

I like Cat Girl.

Inspired by Val Lewton i think. Read my review if you wish. This should link you to it.

Given a lot of Euro hardboxes go for £30-40 I don't think all Arrows stuff is necessarily over priced. A lot of their standard releases are £15-£18 direct but usually can be had cheaper through HMV/Amazon ect.
Bird is worth the £25 IMO. The restoration is terrific and theres some intersting extras.

Sounds good, thanks, do you have any other from The British Film range that would be well paired with this, I'd hate to only buy one thing, although I did spend £25 yesterday on sale stuff, which will be revealed once it arrives!

That's also a valid opinion, I'm definitely sensitive to the fact that the UK scene is a lot a cheaper than Europe and US, but it's a difficult transition to be known for really good value and £12.99 day one release prices to suddenly being £15.99 for regular releases and £20+ for fancy 1 film sets. 88 Films is struggling with this also, their deal with HMV and the Italian/Slasher lines has hurt them in the long run because I see films like Delerium and Iron Master for £15 in the shops and I think, nah, that would have been £9 six months ago...

Demdike@Cult Labs 19th June 2017 09:47 AM

I'm not sure what you have already, Justin, however.

The Night Has Eyes is strongly recommended if you like old dark house movies.

Link is brilliant, The Iron Maiden was a comedy i really enjoyed.

Horrors of the Black Museum is a nice slice of English Gothic, Baby Love has Linda Hayden seducing all and sundry in a psycho thriller, or if you want weird sci-fi there's The Final Programme.

Baby Love did catch my eye to be honest, it has a good lurid cover! Thanks for the suggestions! I did order one yesterday which I'm sure is going to be crap but it sounds really fun so I'll let you all know what I think. I'm hoping that these will all come this week, I'm off work until next Monday!

I have Noose for a Lady from Fopp a couple of months ago, not watched it yet but I pulled it off the shelf and onto the pile a few days ago!

OK, I just spent another £15 that's it for Network now;

Just bought
Horrors of the Black Museum
The Night Has Eyes
Cat Girl
Baby Love

They all sound great,

Yesterday I bought...
All Night Long (Bluray)
The Importance of Being Ernest (Bluray)
I've been eying those up for a while now and at £5 each in the sale it was easy.

Annika: The Complete Series (80's Channel 4 mini series)
One Summer: The Complete Series (Willy Russell 5 parter with David Morrisey and Spencer Leigh as 2 scouse mates on holiday)
The Headless Ghost - This is the one I'm expecting to be shit but fun.

Just arrived, but I'm going to save it for tonight, far too nice out to be stuck in watching a film, so I'm doing my lesson planning out in the sun

I can never be bothered with stuff like that. Fair play to those who navigate the perils of ebay and making a profit from this kind of stuff, it's just not for me. Too much hassle.

Give it a month. List it on Ebay with a starting bid a little under what you paid.
start the listing in the evening and offer free postage. If you can get a bidding war going then good times! Personally I don't scalp stuff. I'm happy to hunt down obscure or oop stuff to sell, which usually involves a lot of walking and rooting through stores.

This time, no!

I was checking out various Eureaka titles and noticed it dirt cheap. Went in and someone had a 'disc only, Blu-ray no DVD' listing. £1.94. Magpie being magpie undercut it thanks to their idiot price cutting software so I snagged it. Went back onto the listing and notice the other sellers listing has gone. So either I've just upset someone or someone else grabbed their copy.

Nostalgic 20th June 2017 07:25 PM

Still no email or text confirmation from hmv that my Bird With The Crystal Plumage set is in. Bit worried, hopefully they just haven't scanned it in but can't get to the store untilsaturday as working!!! Grrr!!!

Santa Sangre is fantastic, I know most will put El Topo and Holy Mountain above it, but not I. My favourite Jodorowsky film.

Mine too, although The Holy Mountain and El Topo are not far behind.

Bargain Hunt, Cult Labs style... the 2 SH BD were £1.99 each from Oxfam, WWZ and Get Carter dvd were £1.50 the pair at CEX.

(Carter is of course not a patch on the Caine original but... as a later Stallone action pic it's pretty good, with some fine emotion shown by him in the 'rooftop' scene IMHO, and our Michael has a nice role too.)

Nostalgic 21st June 2017 10:47 PM

Ok, ordered 4 items from cex online & got an email saying "cat people has been dispatchd, this completes your order". Bit worried as usually i'd get 4 emails then an invoice.
Will not be amused if the other 3 dont turn up.
