The thing that annoyed me about that Australian Night Of The Creeps blu, was they put new art on the reverse without the rating. Crazy! (imo).

A few things this week. 2 from HMV's 2 for £15 Premium Collection sale (still going, btw). The unrated version of Stuart Gordon's Fortress from Koch Media in Germany, and a new multi-region 3D blu-ray player. Being an early adoptor (evwn before UK releases), I had a player from the USA and recently it's been refusing to play certain discs. Getting a pay raise this month and backdated to January, so thought this was the perfect time to remedy the player situation.

Apparently it's the guy who runs the label that does the new art. No wonder he wants the new stuff logo-less!

Interpol - Turn on the Bright Lights and Final Fantasy III came through the post yesterday afternoon

Justin101 13th July 2017 08:09 AM

I have the American Night of the Creeps with an equally bad front cover art, is the German/Aus from a new master or is it the same?

Is it from Amazon or MRM? Or somewhere else. I really think it's time I just bit the bullet...

It can either be the best or the worst decision you'll make

That's why I have been reluctant, I finally have some money in my savings account and I wanted it to stay that way, but checking if a release is region free every time is tiresome... Also Shout Factory tend to put everything out and they lock every last disc

Yeah, I put it off for ages until my last player decided to only play Region 1 DVDs and Region B blu rays after I updated the software!

Not true. Q The Winged Serpent is unlocked. Apparently its also a pretty poor transfer but I've not seen it personally.

You have to have the one that bucks the trend

My current player can't even play multi region DVDs so at the moment I'm a bit screwed

Rik 13th July 2017 08:39 AM

I think I only paid about £75 for my MR player from Multi-Region Magic, decent Panasonic machine that doesn't have any problems playing any disc I throw at it, only minor downside is having to manually switch regions for blu ray, but that's hardly worth grumbling about. And, when it stopped switching a few months back I emailed them and they talked me through sorting it out (I'd accidentally changed one of the settings), great service

I think all the ICOS mods you have to open the tray and press 1, 2 or 3 to change the regions, that's easy enough :)

Cheapest one now is around £130 which isn't too bad, but as before, is it like opening Pandora's Box

A lot of things I don't buy because I can't play them, so getting a multi-region BD player means that isn't a problem any more, therefore I'll end up buying even more things than I currently do

I already have a watch pile higher than me

I currently have 103 new to me horror films to watch.

That doesn't take into account about 40 tv series and 70 or so non-horrors.

Justin101 13th July 2017 12:36 PM

I only ordered this yesterday in the zoom sale so it arriving today was a surprise!

If you spent over £12 on a sale box set you could choose one of 12 DVDs so 10 Cloverfield Lane was for free, it's a fantastic film which I saw on the cinema last year!

I guess it's Sony BDP-S6500 as I can't find anything with Sony BDP-6500?

Is it region free out of the box without any modding?? If so, I need to buy this.

Yeah It's the S6500. Don't believe there are any Sony's region free out of the box. This one was bought with an ICOS mod. Couldn't be simpler to change regions though. Just turn the player on and press the red button on the remote for region A or the green button for region B.

Yeah it was MRM. The switching's pretty simple on this one too. Turn it on, press red on the remote for region A/Green for B and yellow for C (if it's needed).

I have a Sony BDP-S3700 which I bought at the end of last August and can't fault. It replaced my PS3, Region A Maidston Blu-ray player and multi region DVD player.

Interestingly, it is the blue button for Region B and yellow for Region A, so maybe Sony have changed the firmware or remote design since then.
