BU seem to be going through their DVD back catalogue and re-releasing them all on BD.

In fact, it's less common for them to release something on BD that they haven't released before on DVD. The Nesting being a noteworthy exception.

Fantastic hauls everybody!

That's good to know, thanks for that BE. I'll hold off getting anymore BU stuff for now and patiently wait to see what future BD's they release.

If this is the case, I truly hope the release the The Blind Dead Collection on BD.

If they did I'd probably spontaneously combust! :D

Pretty much the calm before the storm of October. It's quite nice to see Arrow and Shameless' catalogue of releases growing. I'm particularly looking forward to watching Final Exam. It's from that amazing period in Slasher movie history, and it could well have been something much more special, if it had tighter direction, a little more atmosphere, and scares. But I'm fond of it, and I think it gets a hard time. I'll be saving Halloween 2 BD until my Halloween marathon, but eagerly waiting to see Terror in the Aisles. The cover for HorrorHound's The Thing retrospective issue is amazing! Arrow should seek out Mark Maddox, he'd do some awesome Arrow covers.

Can't wait till next month :D.

I picked mine up from PlanetAxel.

Maria's B-Movie Mayhem - Love Me Deadly / Curious DVD Movie Online, Movies Shop, Film Plot Summary, Sales, Movie Trailer

Lot of the guys on here use them. They're very reliable but they've introduced a handling charge on top of postage so it does bump up the price considerably if only purchasing a single disc, so I only order in bulk from them now.

Hope this of some help piraterob. :)

GiveAgainGoldenStars 29th September 2011 11:06 AM

Flash Gordon, was the last (and so far only) Blu Ray I brought. It was very awesome :D I would defiantly recomend it

Thanks for that. Well, that sucks. Never mind, there's plenty of other Blu's I can content myself with. Wonder why Image are so intent on locking all their BDs? They've done the same with their Midnight Madness series. Crazy.

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 29th September 2011 12:09 PM

I thought it was about time I ordered this:

I've got The Thing on HD-DVD, is it just a re-formatting of the same disc on BD?

That's it. You're banished from the land of Cult Labs forever! Don't come back again. :pound:

Ah.. those immortal letters.. HD-DVD

I still have some but need a new player for my 30 or so discs that are left one day. The Thing is supposed to be slightly better on HD-DVD actually and it's one I've kept so far.

Oh yeah, I remember looking at that ad, haha! It's one of those where I'll have to pick one up later as too short of cash. I'm still on the fence about keeping what I have. In all honestly, The Thing is what's keeping them here, haha. I've yet to figure whether I should just get the BD one day cheap as the difference is pretty slight from what I've seen and then figure out what else I'd rebuy.

nekromantik 29th September 2011 12:59 PM

I bought The Thing bd recently too
great transfer and extras.

antmumford 29th September 2011 01:00 PM

Finally got round to watching Bridge on the River Kwai last night and it looks loooovely on BD. A great film too, never seen it before and I really really enjoyed it.
The opening credit sequence looked really poor at first and I got worried as to how the rest of the film would look in HD but it really does look crisp and colourful, highly recommended.

I'm going to work my way through the Sony Collector Editions over the next few weeks and as I've already seen Taxi Driver and Stand By Me already (both look superb too) then it's Ghandi next.

oaxaca 29th September 2011 01:01 PM

Watched Eureka's BLACK SHIELD OF FALWORTH and PRINCE VALIANT recently. Both superb movies and very entertaining to this day. I love the vibrant technicolour productions, the fairly cheesy acting, the fantastic and suprisingly seamless matte artwork of the backgrounds, the villainous James Mason in PV, the heroic Tony Curtis in BSOF, and the good-looking Janet Leigh in both. If you like your old movies then you can't go wrong with these (or Eureka's ALI BABA & THE 40 THEIVES)!
