I ordered some of those as far back as August, so I didn't buy them all once! Needless to say, the large holes I had made in my pile of unwatched discs have now been filled - and more!

Today I made my first direct order from Arrow, can anyone tell if they send e-mail after dispatch ?

I've only ordered once from them and can't remember receiving a dispatch e-mail. I might be wrong though.

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 12th December 2011 06:45 PM

Actually, forget that. I've just searched my e-mails and found an order confirmation and another from Laura to tell me the item would be shipped that day.

1.33:1? It doesn't look right in the theatrical presentation ratio on the Blu-ray I have.

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 12th December 2011 07:44 PM

Stan the Man loved that ratio eh?

PaulD 12th December 2011 09:09 PM

Ordered Red Hill on bluray this morning. Looking forward to seeing this, heard good things.

Good purchase my friend, a superb film indeed. In fact you've reminded me to pick this one up myself

Kubrick composed his films for both theatrical and fullscreen presentation. The reason being was that he didn't want his films pan-and-scanned for TV, so he would dual compose his films so that it could be matted for full theatrical presentation and opened up to fullscreen for TV, so either way his vision wouldn't be compromised. So, for most of his films, either ratio could be considered the correct ratio.

Gold6082 13th December 2011 03:37 AM

Slime city massacre
Patrick Still Lives
Ghosthouse 666 X KULT Hardbox
Short night of the glass dolls

all turned up yesterday

napalm-in-the-morning 13th December 2011 05:58 AM

Conan, the new 2011 version. Great first twenty mins then falls completely flat like a dull episode of the old Hercules tv show. A big let-down with a bland Conan who is so lacking in charisma. Very disappointing. Lots of cheap looking digital matte work didn't help either. Yuck. Awful rubbish and an insult to Howard and his writing. Wish I had just rented instead of bought!

That is if you overlook the truly horrible fullscreen versions of Spartacus and 2001. You are right of course but what you're saying is really only applicable to A Clockwork Orange and the subsequent films thereafter ;)

Picked up the bluray brand new from a PlayTrade seller for just over £4. Worth seeing if they have anymore or someone else selling it at a similar price.

Handyman Joe 13th December 2011 10:47 AM

2 arrivals - Day of the Dead US Blu (sorry Arrow but the Romero commentery was a deal breaker for me) and the J-Horror Confessions which I can't wait to see - on a big Asian kick at the moment.

£4.99 on Playtrade or same price at choicesuk.com. Problem with this release is that I know it comes with a slipcover and I'm a bit OCD when it comes to slips and am determined to always get a slip release if it was originally released with one. I may to have to grab this only in a shop or on eBay just to make sure.
I'm so sad :loco:

EDIT: This reminds me, does anyone own Man On Fire on Blu-ray with a slipcover? If so would you be willing to part with your slip??

nekromantik 13th December 2011 02:04 PM

Just placed me pre-order for this for £8! :)

Exp I getting the UK steely so it will have triple play banner at the top sadly, hopefully the banner is just a paper sheet instead of on the actual steely.

Alien Anthology and Zombie (Flesh Eaters) Blus arrived this morning.

sawyer6 13th December 2011 05:47 PM

My arrow video order along with the 2012 diary shipped today:woot:

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 13th December 2011 06:22 PM

I received The Tree of Life, which I haven't seen before and was a complete blind buy. However, as I think Badlands, Days of Heaven, The Thin Red Line and The New World are brilliant films and Terence Malick is one of the greatest directors still working, I shouldn't be disappointed.

Baseball Fury 13th December 2011 06:54 PM

Alien Anthology just arrived, and my mate just bought the original 9 disc DVD off me for a tenner, so it was nearly free!

I haven't seen it yet( I know I'll love it), but I believe If you like his previous movies you like ,If not well you'll hate it.Believe it or not, I watched The New World at the cinema and when It finished everyone applaused because It was finally over :mmph: .That's why I decided not to watch Tree Of Life at the cinema,I wouldn't stand the comments

Thanks BE!
I did have most of them on old vhs tapes.
I'm planning on giving them all a spin soon.:pop2:

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 14th December 2011 07:47 PM

That's a whole load of Jackie Chan movies! Those box sets look excellent, particularly the Police Story one of which you posted the pictures. If I didn't already have loved to watch and I promised I wouldn't buy anything until the sales, I'd investigate buying them myself!

bdc 14th December 2011 07:57 PM

The boxsets are really nice,I played around with the Royal Tramp one for about 10 minutes before I found the "secret compartment"!

Once A Thief contains a dvd sized cardboard replica of the painting! :loco:
It's (together with the dvd) inside a partly see-through plastic box,fun edition.

James Morton 14th December 2011 08:46 PM

Wish Fortune Star would do a nice remaster of The Butterfly Murders and some other early Tsui Hark. I love the Once Upon A Time In China set they did.
