In terms of UK releases DW2 is heavily cut and will remain so for quite some time to come. The cuts to DW1, DW3 and DW4 were all waived in 2006. DW5 was never cut.

As for worldwide releases DVD Compare is your best bet, together with user reviews on the IMDB & Amazon.

Yeah, apparently the only way to get all five DW films in the best possible versions is the region 4 Australian box set, which apparently commands high prices these days and is becoming increasingly difficult to find.

vincenzo 23rd March 2010 12:03 PM

The Australian box set is the one I have, plus the UK releases of DW1 and (for censorship comparison) DW2. Well worth seeking out.

Stephen@Cult Labs 23rd March 2010 12:03 PM

Or the Australian double feature of DW/DW2 and the German MGM dvds of parts 3-5 :)

Survival of the dead. Sound is great on this, PQ is generally good. Enjoyed this apart from the crap CGI. Shame about the lack of extras. There is NOTHING!!!

Apparently there were no extras available to Optimum. Romero appears to have made this with ZERO support. Not even an extra with a video camera!

DeadAlive 23rd March 2010 12:33 PM

Paranormal Activity

Oooh! Nice choice with PA, Reaps. Have you seen it before? :)

pedromonkey 23rd March 2010 05:54 PM

haven't seen Paranormal Activity yet but Harry Brown was a cracking film, it's the OAP Death Wish, Caine is fantastic.

Ken 23rd March 2010 07:12 PM

I watched Paranormal Activity yesterday and was'nt entirely impressed, It was OK but that's about as much as i can manage. maybe i need to give it a 2nd watch but doubt it will change my opinion. :ohwell:

TALL DUDE 23rd March 2010 07:21 PM

Ordered paranormal activity today,a brilliant cinema going experience,it has to be said.

Going through a bit of a zombie movie watching phase of late and ordered olaf ittenbachs premutos:lord of the living dead, zombie transfusion,i walked with a zombie/body snatcher, dead set, zombie town and zombie chronicles, which consists of three low budget zombie flicks, swamp zombies, stiff odds and forever dead.

Phats 23rd March 2010 08:11 PM

I just ordered the new release - from Arrow - of Johnny Got His Gun. I haven't seen it before and I know nothing of the previous DVD but I'm guessing this new release is an improvement in some way?

Let's hope it's in the same league as Blair Witch and not Cloverfield....:bored:

nekromantik 24th March 2010 12:41 AM

I saw PA twice in the cinemas, 2nd time it kinda lost its edge as I knew what was gonna happen so will be interesting to see how I feel after seeing it at home as this was such a big screen experience and people have said they dont think it works as well at home.

HMV dispatched my 2012 bluray steelbook but not Day of the dead :(

why nekro why, 2012 is a steaming pile of cliche ridden turd, the only redeaming feature is Woody Harrelson. Get independence day on Blu instead, if you don't already have it.

Luckily House of the Devil is out so I can grab that instead! :thumb:

antmumford 24th March 2010 11:33 AM

It's because there's so much stuff in the set that Sony are having issues fitting it all in the packaging

Me too! The first time I saw it I went with a load of people and the cinema was packed. You could feel the room hold their breath every time that bedroom shot was shown. Brilliant filmmaking!

Second time I saw it lost its edge for me too. But that was probably because of all the stupid chavs shouting stuff out and ruining it. Damn them! :p

iluvdvds@Cult Labs 24th March 2010 12:52 PM

@ant, could you let us know what the quality is like on the Toy Story blurays? A mate of mine said he saw Toy Story 2 showcased in an HMV store near him and he was unimpressed with the quality.
