I'd also recommend it - great film, great transfer, great extras.

ReturnToZero 5th June 2012 05:34 PM

I don't own it but i would also recommend Gojirosan to buy this one ;)

Still haven't watched Amer despite having owned it for well over a year!

Oh man, Amer was my favorite film of that year. You GOTTA watch it! Shamefully, I've never seen Dressed to Kill but I think I'll be changing that soon! :)

Paul@TheOverlook 6th June 2012 08:09 AM

Do you a swap - you watched Dressed to Kill and I'll watch Amer ;) :D

Stephen@Cult Labs 6th June 2012 08:50 AM

Been reading reports over on blu-ray.com, that even though the Return Of The Living Dead steelbook is region B, people have been able to get the film, and the More Brains documentary to play on their region A machines. I know for a fact that it works on the PS3 and standalone players. I just tried it on my Region A Sony player. The usual wrong region code message comes up, but hitting the top menu button on the remote takes you straight to the discs menu. The only extra features you can watch are the More Brains doc, and the trailers though. The rest of the features must be standard def.

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 6th June 2012 09:46 AM

Very strange. I'll give it a try on my Maidston player in a few minutes and see what happens.

Slippery Jack 6th June 2012 10:37 AM

Forget Dressed to Kill, I want a BD of Body Double  . . .

Charity shop:

'Miracles' - Jackie Chan (HKL) - £2.99

HMV:

'Strippers Vs. Werewolves' - £5.00

Gojirosan 6th June 2012 11:42 AM

I got sick of waiting for a Blu-Ray of Leave Her To Heaven to appear, so bought the cheap R2 DVD. I expect to hear of a BD announcement within a couple of weeks...

I wasn't very impressed by the ludicrous over-packaging Amazon used for Return Of The Living Dead. Very wasteful. One of their usual cardboard packs would have been more than adequate.

The Taking of Pelham One Two Three has just delivered. I'm not sure about the artwork at the moment and don't know whether it'll grow on me or whether I'll hate it after a while!

In either case, I'm really looking forward to watching it in high definition and with the DTS-HD Master Audio mono soundtrack.

Have ordered the Arrowdrome one, as mate not that bothered about "features", shame as the SS comm with Mr G is quite illuminating regarding the films history/production etc.

Well, it turned up, nice wee thing it is an all, i'm sure mate will love it for itself haha

My Return of The Living Dead turned up this morning too. Also in a chunky cardboard box big enough for at least 3 films. Actually thought it was my son's Mickey Mouse toys. Also picked up the Alien Anthology Blu-ray set in Sainsburies on Monday for the very reasonable price of £17. Got Island Of Lost Souls too.

Just got Deathdream (£8.30 on amazon including postage) thanks to the zombie / vampire fight over it on the war horror thread. By creepy coincidence, I just got back from the library with Kim Newman's 333 Films to Scare You To Death, and Deathdream was one of the first entries I read  . . .

I got hooked on BSG and watched the entire 78 episodes in 7 days. Incredible show.
V was pretty good, not a patch on the original but it got cancelled just as it was starting to get awesome much like what happened to Firefly.

SShaw 6th June 2012 07:08 PM

A few new additions. From Germany (and by coincidence all films shown at After Dark last October):

some good looking pick ups there...I'm intrigued by Love, the trailer looks fantastic but i'm afraid it's literally just going to be an extended music video for Angels & Airwaves who, being a Blink 182 fan, think are shit. Exit Humanity looks like great fun and The Divide was good.

Hawkmonger 6th June 2012 07:54 PM

Running into a bit of a crisis. My pay for this month has been set back till next month because of harsh time's in the Dive Store. :(
And it come's at a time when I have to start saving for my jolly and just after I over spent on PlanetAxel (I blame myself for that one ) as well as two wedding's and a Birthday. So suffice to say I'm strapped for cash.
Because of this I'm not gonna be buying anything for the rest of the month until I'm in the clear and I get my double wage next month.
So today I had to buy something to keep me going for a while, so I went out to HMV and for £16 got this;
http://filmstore.bfi.org.uk/acatalog/5035673011041.jpg
For this pitence I get 4 Films (although 3 of them are short's, but I have never seen any of the movies in the package so there we have it) and a lovely booklet. God bless BFI: Flipside!

bizarre_eye@Cult Labs 6th June 2012 08:01 PM

Sorry to hear of your money woes, Hawkmonger. Hopefully everything will work out.

I also have Herostratus - a great release and worth every penny.

Stephen@Cult Labs 6th June 2012 08:55 PM

It's crap having no money. I've been working for a company for 2 years through an agency, getting paid every week, and was taken on full time at the beginning of May. And as they get paid monthly, I was nearly a month without pay, so had to use all the money I had saved, which granted, wasn't a lot, to pay bills etc, so now I'm back to square one, trying to save up some money for emergencies, and trying to indulge in my passion of collecting (and yes, some of my savings went on my steelbooks Just couldn't bear to cancel them!).
