Got the recent-ish anchor bay uk re-issue of Kevin s tenny's NIGHT OF THE DEMON from a local charity shop for a quid.

I also already own the older midnite movies release. The new anchor bay dvd has bonus features and a much better looking transfer. Unfortunately its also widescreen and loses portions of the frame at top and bottom as a result. Looks like i'm going to have to keep hold of the old release.

I love Night Of The Demons keirarts. It deserves the blu treatment for sure. My latest purchase...

I haven't seen The Losers, but the other two are excellent films – happy birthday for yesterday!

I received an e-mail from Tesco with a code for 15% off purchases of £25 or more, so ordered the Universal Classic Monsters limited edition set for just over £38. I didn't think that was too bad for a set with with that many BDs of classic films and extremely cool packaging.

Did that myself last night, plus Tesco offer an 8% quidco cashback rate which is extremely generous so that's another £3 odd saved on top... Ends up virtually the same price as the standard set :D

I also went through Quidco and after, as the Americans would say, 'doing the math', I came to the same conclusion as you. Excellent price and cashback.

Thanks for the birthday wishes guys. I haven't seen The Losers either but thought it looked like a fun action film. Also, just went through Manhunter and it has the "manufacturing a monster" speech near the end so it looks like its my favourite cut of the film.

bdc 14th August 2012 08:18 PM

New arrivals... :)

Devil Eye (2001) (Universe)
Erotic Ghost Story: Perfect Match (1997) (Universe)

Really curious about Cash Chin's (or Larry Chin's as it says on the cover  ) 2001 HK horror...will it be more Japanese in style (after the success of Ring) or not? ;)

Id like to see that too. Is there even any Asian films left for you to buy

bdc 14th August 2012 08:46 PM

Still loads of HK stuff to buy and I'm trying to be selective. :)

I'll see if I can take some pics, not promising anything though. ;)

Just a few short weeks after I watched this in the Filmhouse (Edinburgh International Film Festival) it has been released on German Blu-ray and DVD. Haven't had an opportunity to watch it, but I was taken by the simple yet brilliant cover art.

Watched both today and was very impressed with both. I think A FORCE OF ONE just edges it PQ wise but, compared to the old MIA DVD of THE OCTAGON I owned, this blu ray shows a mind-blowing improvement in detail, its possible to see facial features and things like leaves on trees now, and what weapons people are holding, etc :p

A fine action romp, imagine the A-Team movie but far superior.

i've never seen it, and it was £3.00 in work. It's one i've always been meaning to catch but never got around to it. Never seen In the Mouth Of Madness either, probably the only Carpenter film i've not seen.

Two wonderful films Pedro.

You will be in for a treat.

Imo Madness is Carpenter's last great film and easily sits alongside his more famous works.

Be interested to know what you think of them both. :)

Jaws bd.

I was holding off on picking this up until the reviews started coming in. From what I've read the transfer looks immaculate.

If its the same remaster as the one shown in cinemas it looks phenomenal.

Good picks there Reaps. Anti-Clock is great. It really is like something Channel 4 used to show in the good old days ;)
