I've never seen 'em either. Weird cause I had a misspent youth watching 80's swords and sandals & other fantasy cheesefests. I love RED SONJA, its going dirt cheap on amazon right now for those interested :)

Paul@TheOverlook 15th August 2012 04:57 PM

The first one is amazing, the sequel nowhere near as good and Red Sonja is on a par with the latter.

Best of the three I thought...

..in it's own very peculiar way!

Didn't really like 3 and 4.

3 and 4 are miles better than 5. At least THINGS ACTUALLY HAPPEN! 5 just drags along limply, how anyone could view it as anything other than shite is an eternal mystery to me. 3 and 4 are endearingly rubbish but we still get some action.

Atmosphere.

The other two are just dreary low rent action films with a bit of zombie rubbish thrown in here and there.

At least Killing Birds weaves a creepy atmosphere, has a great setting and attempts some moody cinematography.

The first one is pretty amazing and in my view Arnie's best film. The second one is shite and Red Sonja is fun.

I've not seen "Anti Clock" but the other film is like "The Holy Mountain" except the mountain is a slag heap in Wales populated by a cast of women off their heads on LSD. It's great.

Yep, I read some funny reviews about that one :D

BTW, this being an american release, shouldn't they be Zombi 2/3/4 instead of 3/4/5?!?
(Yes, I know that #5 isn't a real sequel)

The first film has been released on dvd as Zombie and Zombi 2 in the US though.

You see atmosphere, I see tedious nothingness. Killing birds felt far longer than its actual running time. 3 and 4 were ridiculous but they were FUN.

Feeling the need for more obscenity in my life...

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 16th August 2012 02:53 PM

I watched The Woman in Black yesterday as a Lovefilm rental and, as I thought it was as good as when I saw it at the cinema, decided to buy it so picked up a used copy from Blockbuster online for £8.30.

Slippery Jack 16th August 2012 04:17 PM

Just ordered Satanico Pandemonium, and got Alucardia on ebay for £12 the other day. Which other Mondo Macabre titles should I be seeking out . . . ?

The double feature with For Your Height Only included is a good package for the price, Lady Terminator, the best available version of Don't Open Till Christmas just as a few examples.

When you watch any MM dvd they have a MM reel which has clips from loads of their films.

I watched that a few times and the ones that looked cool i went for. (Most of them actually look very good).

Odd that you say that, I have found myself craving explicit sex and violence in films since dabbling with fairly mainstream cinema. However in Dyer's "Borstal Boy" he plays a gay sailor who gets gang raped, so may be that will sate my needs.

Satan's Blood's worth a go if you fancy copious nudity, black magic, a body in the freezer and a dog called Blackie
