I'd be interested to know whether that was the corrected version - I've been holding off picking this up as I'd rather buy it when all the incorrect copies have been sold through.

Unfortunately not, no, I've just e-mailed Criterion with my proof of purchase so hopefully they'll send me the replacement disc soon.

I'm biding my time as there isn't much I want this year and am probably going to usethe extra 30% discount code (which is active from tomorrow) to pick up The Vanishing.

(and Arrow will then probably announce it for release )

Yeah I'm using that code tomorrow to get some Kiarostami Blu-rays, and that'll do me for this sale

I haven't seen the disc myself, but apparently this (quoted from a member on Blu-ray.com):

(spoilered for those who haven't seen the film)

SPOILER:
65 minutes and 54 seconds into the film, Henry touches The Lady in the Radiator and the screen is supposed to go completely white. However, on the Criterion blu-ray I received, the exact opposite happens--the screen goes completely black. Obviously, this totally changes the meaning of one of the film's pivotal moments.

Bought Kino's Blu Ray of Bay of Blood for 11 quid. Thought it was worth getting since everyone on the net says its a significant improvement over Arrows own release.

It's the limited edition steelbook.

It's generally quite pricey in the usual haunts, however I managed to find it for a very reasonable £6.47 delivered from Hive.co.uk.

Not a lot this week, and I expect nothing next week, unless the Criterion Designs book arrives. I shall be watching To All A Goodnight on Christmas Eve this year. Perhaps I'll pair it with Frozen? ;) Warner Archive and Kino are killing it at the moment. I hear Warner Archive will be putting out some Hammer, and Bette Davis next year.

troggi 28th November 2014 08:13 AM

"Trailer Park of Terror" (2008) Picked up for one squid in Sue Ryder charidee shop. Still got t' mini comic included which, to be honest, is what I bought it for. I'll give it a whirl when I'm in t' mood f' some schlock and cheese.

Off t' quack's now and then t' t' best comic shop on the south coast, Room 237, via a gamut of charidee shops in Southsea so 'ere's 'opin'.

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 28th November 2014 08:50 AM

This morning, I ordered these BDs From Zavvi:

inside Llewyn Davis steelbook (oddly cheaper than the standard release, at £9.99)
Oculus
Rush (£4.99)
American Pie collection (the first three and Reunion)
Kung Fu Panda 1 & 2 (only £4.99)

I also ordered Despicable Me because, for some reason, I only own the sequel, for £5 at Amazon.

Gold6082 28th November 2014 09:02 AM

Picked up Arrow's Steel of Pit & The Pendulum, for £9.99 in the Zavvi Black Friday Sale as It's the first time I have ever seen it anywhere for a sensible price. I am chuffed to have the last steelbook I needed (to date) at last.

Black Friday browsing is far from done though!

demonknight 28th November 2014 04:40 PM

Received two packages today.

The Descent from Lionsgate and Dark Star from VCI Entertainment, both on Blu.
