Picked up some stuff up from a carboot sale this morning

Monk season 1-8
Working girl blu Ray

Highlight was some ps2 RPGs

Frankenhooker 4th January 2015 07:40 PM

Picked up The Toxic Avenger Part II and Alpha Papa, the latter was only £2.99.

My new years resolution was to spend less on DVD/Bluray. It isn't going well...

Found an HMV in Carlisle while on Christmas break (I know, I thought they were extinct too...)

Picked up both seasons Peaky Blinders on Blu - it has Sam Neil in, otherwise a blind-buy. £30.

The Anchor Bay Coffin Joe set for a nice £10.

Then in a trip to CEX in Keighley:

Russian post-WW2 film 'The Edge of War'
Shangai set pre-WW2 film 'City of War'

For a grand total of £1.00

Is that the Steve Buscemi film?

If so, it's very good.

Agreed.

I remember when it came out people complained about the film quality. I've seen two of them now and the quality has been fine.

Yes, but really a let down compared to the previous releases from Brazil and the US, can't understand why that happened...

End Of Man, for example, has a horrible sound, and the brazilian disc sounds fine.

I did. This is for another room in the house.

Now all I need is another one for the bathroom and then I'm sorted as far as visual entertainment goes! ;)

Good blind buy on Peaky Blinders. Best thing on TV after The Walking Dead ...... Envious that you get to watch them all with fresh eyes [emoji12]

I went to a few charity stores and the local cash generators this morning and came back with another bundle of discs. All the discs were 99p or less each apart from the Prometheus 3d Bluray which was £2.49.

Some bargains there. Demon Seed and IB2 for a start.

Frankenhooker 6th January 2015 02:02 PM

I bought the Second Sight disc of The Doom Generation from CEX for £3.50. I've seen it before, although some time ago, I remember finding it quite interesting.

I popped in Poundland to buy some milk for work and they had a copy of Child Of God so I bought that. I 'enjoyed' McCarthy's novel but always deemed it unfilmable so it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Oh, I also bought The Dragon Tattoo trilogy for £5 in Head.

Chocolate Strawberry Vanilla was a fiver from CeX. I saw the trailer for the movie months ago after watching El Monstro Del Mar on the horror channel and looking into it online afterwards. I always enjoy an Aussie movie. They just always seem to add something special to the mix (maybe just the sunshine and babes).

Crumb's book of Genesis was a late birthday present. wHoly anticipated!

A couple of new releases (both in my top 10 of cinema releases last year) and a small order from Eureka's New Year flash sale. I'm always hesitant with DVD releases, but I know the MoC Pialat releases are going OOP, and I've never seen The Haunted Castle, even if it gets a BD upgrade further down the line I'll be happy, and if it doesn't, I haven't missed out.

I also ordered The Haunted Castle in Eureka's New Year's sale (I haven't seen it either, but Murnau is usually a safe bet) along with John Dies at the End on BD... hopefully they'll arrive tomorrow.

I was going to order it until i found out it's not about the supernatural.

Opted for Pandora's Box instead.

Cheers, it sounds interesting. It's the Second Sight release. I don't know if it's the best version but it seems ok.
