I flipped that one for the original poster art, which I slightly prefer to the newly commissioned artwork:

Neither make you want to watch what is an excellent film.

I've never actually seen that! However, it's not a film that grabs me in a way where I'm aching to sit down and give it a go either... ;)

The words truly and awful when used together sum it up perfectly.

Oh the Joys of employment. Sorry for a lengthy absence once again but between work and a girlfriend, life gets busy!!!

Anyway, gone absolutely nuts with the spending recently. As I've said in the Christmas thread, I decided against movies in favor for Wii U and Super Smash Bros (Which was worth every minute of the 8 year wait). However, having a job, I've been able to catch up on my movies using my own money for once.

This is before Christmas up to today.

Attachment 153241

Patrick and Fright Night were from the last 10 minutes of JB HiFi's post Christmas sale on New Years. 2 for $16. Went in for Body Double, Flesh For Frankenstein, and Blood for Dracula, but R18+ ratings prevented me from purchasing these, so went for the 2 above and a Faith No More CD set. Got Fright Night after telling myself $40 is too much for a $8 blu ray plus exclusive extras. Patrick because I thought it was only available here, but hey, it's cheaper than the US release and Umbrella are more likely to put out more Ozploitation than anyone.

Army of Darkness and Killer Klowns from a Zavvi flash sale, with 10% off. Killer Klowns was dirt cheap at 9 pounds, and Army of Darkness I got within 4 minutes of it going up, and about 30 before it sold out again, which was a Christmas miracle.

Vamp was from Mansithe on blu-ray because I'm silly and put off buying it on Amazon (more of this scenario later)

Stray Cat Rock was also from Zavvi after Arrow ruined my grand points plan by running out of stick. 20 pounds, and shipped perfectly thank god, but the changes in the case design from the initial photo suck. Removing the Meijo Keiji and Limited collection lines make the front and spine look bare, and the White Arrow logo on the spine was a very poor design move.

Remo, Delta Force and Nekro I ordered during a sale in September in Japan when Nekro went up, fearing a quick sell out. Finally they arrived, and the Nekro set is stunning.

Lastly, Six Gothic Tales ordered just on release at the cheapest price, and filled some gaps in my collection with Amazon's 4 for 10 dvd deal. A beautiful set.

Yet to arrive, but ordered:

The Last Horror Film, Graduation Day, and The Last Horror Film from 88 Film's half price sale

The OOP slipcase of Arrow's Caligula from Refused, a great opportunity at a perfect price (Just need Battle Royale now, wink wink nudge nudge anyone)

Red Scorpion and Spirits of the Dead slipcase blus from Stephen because I put things off too long and this disapeared from Arrow mid-sale (You guys are life savers for OOP titles I swear)

A damaged (one crushed corner), slipcoverless Limited Withnail set for 10 pounds then shipping from someone on blu-ray.com. Still finalizing this, but this is the only one i ever would have gotten it, an amazing bargain even if shipping will be 1.6x the product price.

From the Arrow sale, Qatsi set, the OOP Blood Feast 2, and 2 bundles comprised of Bound, Branded to Kill, Night of the Comet, Mark of the Devil, Salvatore Guilliano (the compulsory Arrow Academy sale blind buy), and Cheeky (lord help me I'm starting to buy the erotica). Still waiting for the points to come in so i can order the Shivers steelbook.

So with all of this, I think i have a problem :psychosanta::xmasbanana:

Whether it is due to its goofiness, migraine-inducing colours and extraordinary design, or just because of the predictability and dialogue, I thought it was cool beans!

Nosferatu@Cult Labs 2nd January 2015 08:43 AM

In my review of the BD, this was my conclusion:

I actively avoided this at the cinema as I thought I’d hate it and, although Speed Racer isn’t a perfect film and there are plenty of flaws, I found it to be great fun and the visuals are stunning – my retinas are still in recovery – certainly not deserving of all the negative reviews. This was an opportunity to push the boat out and produce a disc that would show what Blu-ray is all about but the paltry extras package and average audio setup is a real let down. It’s worth watching simply for the jaw-dropping visuals and, like me, you may even find you like it.

I saw it a few years ago, I thought it was a ton of fun! Only thing I didn't like, was that kid and it's monkey... Remove those and I'd have no complaints. :)

My Zavvi Sale stuff arrived so i will share my latest pick ups and a few oldies that i saved for now.

I got The new twilight zone set for £10, The Film Four set (because i want Touching the Void) for £6 and the Ghost stories for Xmas set was around £21 (Zavvi had it for £17 but i missed out) anyway that was a nice set to pick up.

Also the Hobbit extended second film tin edition and finally i thought i'd pimp Fetch publicity and Cult labs and share my latest competition winnings to encourage some of you to join in on the competitions more. :)

A Signed nightmare on elm street blu ray set, a creature from the black lagoon special edition also a long time ago i won a special Frankenstein's Army figure but my camera was crap - i took a new photo - i won it a while back but i love it.

Edgeworth 2nd January 2015 12:39 PM

Managed to get my hands on those 3 Milligan titles from Code Red today.
Only ever seen The Ghastly Ones by him and thought that was terrible.

It ain't gonna get any better with these Boo. You should check out the Milligan biography, the man was pure scum in the flesh, with a fetish for beating the f#ck out of the young hustlers he would pick up. Of course we have a shrine to him in the MTDS ritual chamber. The book is one of the best books I have read about a film maker and the underlying drives to create.

Frankenhooker 2nd January 2015 09:30 PM

Picked up The Guest and finally bought Frankenhooker on Bluray.

I also bought Ghosts Of Mars, Resident Evil and Rage in Poundland.

J Harker 3rd January 2015 10:51 AM

So i ordered one bundle from Arrow yesterday of
Obsession
Sisters
and
Remo Williams The Adventure Begins. With my currents reward points and the extra ones i expected to get from that order i was planning to order a second bundle for a tenner. Most likely
Bound
Blind Womans Curse
and
Knightriders. I don't seem to be getting reward points for the first bundle though.
Either way i have to wait to get paid on Monday now to order my second bundle, glad the sale doesn't end til midnight.

TheOncomingStorm 3rd January 2015 11:06 AM

From the Arrow sale i purchased:

Porky's
King of New York
Battle Royale
Phenomena

http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/...psf93ae205.jpg

Slightly crazy haul, but it's also my Birthday over the Christmas period. Lots of stuff I ordered, which got swiped to be given to me for Christmas, which annoyingly happens every year. Was surprised to see The Devil Rides Out still comes with a slip. Great to finally get my hands on that Vincent Price set too, and The 'Burbs! I'm not a huge Hammer fan, but do enjoy The Devil Rides Out.

I took my time picking up a current generation console, but there really wasn't a massive amount of games I was interested in, which hopefully changes this year. Little Big Planet 3 was forced upon me as part of the bundle, and I'll likely trade it in. But The Evil Within and Dragon Age: Inquisition I've been dying to play. The other two were cheap(ish) in the sales.

Ida, The Grande Illusion and The Three Colours Trilogy weren't actually in the sales, but all quite cheap anyway in HMV. There was nothing I was interested in on BD in HMV's sale, it was a real disappointment. But I did pick up a few cheapie DVDs. I was tempted to import The Sacrament on BD, but I'll wait and see if I enjoy it first. Ti West can be a bit hit and miss. I was tempted to get All Hallow's Eve for Halloween, but ended up with more movies than I needed for the marathon, and didn't bother. I did miss out on the lovely slip though. Blood On Satan's Claw was cheap with Zavvi (thanks to J Harker for tipping me off), whom I try to avoid, but it was half the price it was everywhere else, so I couldn't resist, I also picked up the exclusive Manhunter Steelbook whilst I was there, which is much nicer in the flesh.

TheOncomingStorm 3rd January 2015 12:26 PM

I also brought the rambo 1-4 blu ray box set of zavvi for 12.59, so happy with that tbh :)

A Monster-Smackhead double bill:lol:, at £2 each it would be churlish to leave them on the shelf in CEX. the Trainspotting dvd Steelbook is a Norwegian!!! release(gotta love CEX) as such was half the price of the normal dvd and looks sooo much better, although I have the dvd already I got it for that case alone.
